Description:

I've seen a few US-only ATC swaps out there, and I thought it would be fun to do one for Canadians. Let's put those new P(ermanent) stamps to good use!

I very rarely get Canadian partners for things where I can use a flat envelope and use up my P stamps. For every 1 pack of Canadian stamps I buy, I purchase at least 10 American packs and 5 international. I'm sure I can't be the only one who has run into this!

5 partners x 2 ATCs each = 10 cards total. Totally open theme, so we can juice up our creativity and send a variety of ideas. It might be neat to put your location the back of the ATC as well so we can feel connected with our fellow country(wo)men. (Or not. Whatever.)

If you guys want more partners or more ATCs per partner, please let me know and I'll edit the swap. (And make sure to inform everyone of the change.) I just don't want to overwhelm people.

I'd be into hosting a bigger one in future with more partners like all those other mega-swaps out there! I just don't know how many Canadians we have out there who make ATCs.

Traditional ATC rules apply... 2.5"x3.5", and of course the traditional link to a tutorial:

http://www.cedarseed.com/air/atc.html

Canadians only. Newbies welcome, but fill out your profile and/or provide a link to your intrawebz presence. Ratings of 4.5 or higher. No more than 2 no sends in the last 3 months. (I'm pretty fair and lenient and have no problem checking out profiles and ratings and who rated you etc. I know there are a few ratings-catfights going around, and I know that people often rate 1 within a week of swaps closing or not communicating with their partner.)

I'm out of the country the evening of May 3 to the evening of May 15, so I can't be reached during that time. Which is why I'm giving some time both before and after I get back in order to answer any questions or messages that may arise before I assign partners. :)

Have fun everyone! (Hope I'm not the only Canadian who is into this idea! Hehe. It's entirely possible.)

Great idea. I am in. I know just what you mean. Always getting way more US and International stamps than Canadian ones. Can't wait to see how many of us are ATC makers. I am new to them but love making them.

StuffbySteph 04/27/2007 #

This will be great! As much as I really do love swapping all over the place, I'm with you on the postage, cooan! And it's always nice to get to know our own country-mates:) Yay :-)

TerryF 04/27/2007 #

Hi cooan: I love making ATCs! Unfortunately, I can't join your swap because I have too many others already on the go in May - and 10 cards are a bit too much for me all at once. (What can I say? I'm old and slow! lol) Nevertheless, I hope you get lots of takers and that everyone has fun with this! Best, Terry

cooan 04/27/2007 #

Thanks Terry! :) I'll be sure to run it again in June or July just for you. ;) And make one less cards too! (I'm sure we'd make great fed ATCs.)

TerryF 04/27/2007 #

And we could do themes: "Pay Stubs Abstract", "My Favourite Donut", "Gossip Around the Water Cooler", "Briefing Notes", "House of Commons: Who Cares?" Getting punchy, time for bed! 'nite!

Great idea. And by the way- I know there are LOTS of Canadian swappers out there that do ATC's. I am in a local group (Hilltop Stampers) that meets every Tuesday. I have done stamping for about 16 years but since I discovered ATC's- I have kindof left all other card-making by the wayside. They are a bit addictive! Hi Melonie- I see you joined the Old Box again too.

Mel 04/28/2007 #

As a Canada-lovin' States-er, I say God love ya for having your own swap! I do have one question - is the P stamp like the US "forever" stamp - you can use it regardless of whether the postage rate goes up? Just wondering.

Long live Canada/Vive le Canada! :)

Cheers from a Canadian wanna-be, Mel

mbrat 04/28/2007 #

Hi Cathy, yup Old box again. Loving ATC's.

E11enT 04/28/2007 #

Okay, for the sake of our patriotism - I'm in - although I have to tell you that ATC's intimidate me. I did the ATC for beginners swap but I worry that I'm not artistic enough. Now I'm doing altered postcards, mailart and art journals and after reading the "old box" swap description - maybe I'm reading too much in this ATC thing.

Partners, please be gentle on my creation ratings. I'm a nervous ATC'er.

cooan 04/28/2007 #

I'm sure they'll be great, Ellen :)

TerryF 04/28/2007 #

Ellen: Once you get over beginner's fright, you're going to LOVE doing ATCs! So do jump right in - you're among friends! T.

I am so glad that cooan has done a swap for Canada's the postage kills me. I was in one swap for flat flower items it ended up costing my $7 just for postage. Anyway thanks for holding this I can't wait. I must admit 10 is a big number for me too but I am in.

cooan 04/29/2007 #

Would y'all be happier if I took it down to 4 or 3 partners? :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was into this idea!

Poppins 04/29/2007 #

I don't mind doing 5 partners, but I won't throw a little hissy fit if we lower the number, cooan. :) I like the idea of having 10 new cards to ponder and examine.

cooan 04/30/2007 #

Ok, then i will keep it at 5 and set up a smaller one when I'm back from vacation :) I too look forward to 10 new cards!

turnsoleluna 05/ 1/2007 #

ATC's and Canadian's? I am in. Been a Canadian all my life but relatively new to ATC's! Looking forward to the Canadian creativity!

user7350 05/ 5/2007 #

i love to join but unfortunately i have never done an ATC card before ;) + the number of swappers is a bit high for me. too bad but if this is a success maybe we will get more swaps for canucks??

chaitea 05/11/2007 #

So I don't know what an ATC is and what a person does with them.....

I am on the west coast, and am going to join this and challenge myself!!!!!

user7327 05/15/2007 #

I would LOVE to join this swap but am in the middle of moving and have no idea where i'll end up so I have no address yet but if you do another one in the future then I will for sure join!

jbtmykids 05/15/2007 #

dulcimer 05/24/2007 #

I found an ATC on my desk after I had mailed out the swap ~ if someone doesn't get the correct amount PM me and ill send it out.

E11enT 05/28/2007 #

Sorry Guys, I'm late. I left it too long and then my "home" got torn up for a reno. I live on a houseboat so I don't have much alternative work space. Will try to get in the mail in the next couple of days. So sad, E.
