um...can you define "modern art"?

Dmitterhofer 04/12/2009 #

Hi twobluecrows... here is a link to a cool modern art museum in NY... :D http://www.sfmoma.org/ Here is another from the UK: http://www.modernpainters.co.uk/

Hope this helps! :)

I'm also guessing that "paint" means that the ATC has to be done with Acrylics, oil or watercolors? ...

yep

katrinainaz 04/16/2009 #

you want a "copy" of a piece of art?

pasiakowa 04/16/2009 #

Hmm.. I made something by my own - believing it is "modern art style".

rdhill2005 pm'd me the best definition of Modern Art that I've ever seen--simple and to the point:

"Modern art- The term is usually associated with art in which the traditions of the past have been thrown aside in a spirit of experimentation.[2] Modern artists experimented with new ways of seeing, and with fresh ideas about the nature of materials and functions of art. A tendency toward abstraction is characteristic of much modern art.

So in short think outside of the box don't paint realistic looking things."

I hope we get partners. the host has had a death in the family and it may take a while for her to get back to us.

"...fresh ideas about the nature of materials and functions of art..."

As for painting then, relative to the above statement, it can mean that we could paint with things other than paintbrushes, like palette knives, or pieces of cloth or sponge; and think of colors in a new way, and make something new and different. Painting with other materials like alcohol inks on a glossy surface, glue and sawdust or sand, paper mache pulp, spackle, wall paper paste, silicone, etc. Totally new and different from what we may have done or even thought of before.

That's what I did - painted with acrylics almost not using a brush :) It was a great fun...

Oh, I just read the sad information.... I hope the host will be able to assign the partners...
