ETHP: Inkbox Cards–Alcohol Inks

Inkbox cards are so named because they are the same size as a Distress Ink Pad box. They’re also a perfect fit for Tim’s Vignette Card File.

To kick this inkbox series off, let’s start with Alcohol Inks. I know this is an under utilized supply in my stash. So many different techniques including agate backgrounds, blended backgrounds, spattered solvents, lift-ink, alloys.

If you don’t have any of the designated alcohol ink papers (Yupo, Craft Plastic, etc) you can try ink jet photo paper or collage medium coated cardstock as substitutes.

Inkbox cards measure 3x3 inches with rounded corners. Your cards should be constructed with a heavy-stock base. You can double up cardstock or attach to upcycled drygoods boxes.

Alcohol inks make a great background, so add an element or two to create a composition that highlights your design and creates some sort of focal point. Give your card a Tim Holtz feel.

Lightly decorate the back of your cards, and include your SwapBot username and the title of the swap. Feel free to include some details about your card—colors used, products, technique.


This is an international group, so try to keep your finished card flat enough to mail in a standard envelope without having to incur excessive postage charges.
