Picture, If You Will… The Fungus Among Us Email, Minimum of one photo and 100 words. CAUTION: DO NOT HANDLE MUSHROOMS! If you aren’t versed in fungus, do not touch it. There are species that can make you sick from just touching them. Several species are quite toxic if eaten. ‘Destroying Angels’ (Amanita species), for instance, is considered to be the most toxic mushroom in North American. Symptoms take 5 to 24 hours to appear and include vomiting, delirium, convulsions, diarrhea, liver and kidney failure, and often lead to death. That said… Fungal growths can be quite interesting… even lovely to look at. Unless you live in a desert area, you can probably find some growing in a shaded area of your yard or a wooded area. Now, the point of this swap is to see things that are interesting to look at, not ugly and disgusting. Please refrain from sending pictures of moldy corners in public restrooms or grandpa’s toenail fungus. Photos should show mushrooms growing in the wild, not in the supermarket produce section or the kitchen counter. I like to take, and see, pictures in pairs. (see image above) One showing the top or cap from above and another showing the stem and the often intricate and more interesting under-side of the growth. Then tell your Partners a bit about it… Where you found it, what kind it is (if you know), how you came upon it, what type of area it is growing in… or your connection to mushrooms in general. I’m asking for only a 100-word minimum. I really wish to learn about it, and your connection to it, but realize that there may not be a lot to tell on this subject. Including yourself in the picture would be fun but that may be hard to do with this subject. This should be your own photo and not something from the internet. As it is an email swap, so I am putting a bit lower rating limit on it (4.5) and making it multiple Partners. It is also international as there is no postage needed. Please… have your photo(s) or at least be sure you can get some before signing up for this swap. Note: I last did this swap almost a year ago. I stopped because I was having a lot of trouble with my email. (Some issue with the combination of the application, my provider, and the brand of computer I use. Mostly the provider, I'm pretty sure.) That is all sorted out now. I would like to say it is ‘’fixed” but it is only sorted out in that I have learned how to deal with it so… here we go!. Thank you for considering my swap. |
