Description:

Did any of you know that June 21st is National Seashell Day? Well yes it is.

National Seashell Day gives you the opportunity to .... you guessed it......go to the beach and collect seashells.

Just about everyone knows what seashells are. They are the protective outer layers that are used by some animals that live on the ocean or the beach, with most of them coming from mollusks.

Historically, seashells have meant a lot more than that to human beings. Humans have used them to make jewelry and for other artistic creations for thousands of years and they’ve been seen as a symbol of femininity, good fortune, and rebirth, too. So it shouldn’t surprise anyone that they have been graced with their own holiday-a holiday that’s known as National Seashell Day and is observed on the first day of summer.

Let’s do a deep dive into the subject of seashells so we can do a better job of celebrating this summer holiday. Does that sound like a plan to you? If it does, then allow us to regale you with the following quick seashell facts.

Seashells are mobile homes for a wide variety of different animals including mollusks and hermit crabs.

Hermit crabs use the discarded shells of dead mollusks as their homes.

There are still a lot of things that scientists don’t know about seashells.

National Seashell Day is a holiday that’s fun to enjoy. All one has to do is to head to their local beach and try to find some seashells. Yes, we know that some people don’t live close to a beach, and will have to use the day to search for seashells online or taking the time to learn more about seashells. It’s also a good day to find some of the fantastic seashell art that exists out there in the world. Be sure that while you’re enjoying this holiday that you use the hashtag #NationalSeashellDay to spread the word about it.

Next onto our swap:

Post THREE (3) pictures and/or gifs to each of your THREE (3) partner’s profiles with the theme “National Seashell Day” or seashells. The pictures that you choose may be the SAME OR DIFFERENT between all of your partners. Please choose pictures that you think THEY will enjoy!

Only people with well filled out profiles may participate in this swap. I will be checking the night before partners get assigned.

If you get 3 pictures from your partner on "National Seashell Day” or seashells you have to rate them a 5. The heart on the rating is for if you like what they sent.

To leave a photo on someone's profile use this code ! [ ] ( Put image address here ) With NO spaces & paste the picture's link between the curved parentheses.

Practice on your own profile first to be sure it looks good because you can easily delete it there.

Pick images that are size 300 wide or smaller to be sure they fit. I go to Google images to get my pictures.

Hover over images to see their size because there will be some larger sizes there too. If you really like something click on it and go to the words SEARCH BY IMAGE and click on that. THEN go to the word SMALL and see if there is one 300 size. There are other tricks in the group thread; AN EASY way to get a small PIC from a BIG one;-)

You can find moving pictures at http://giphy.com/

Please write the TITLE OF THE SWAP ON YOUR PROFILE DECO MESSAGE too! This makes it easier for partners that are in a lot of these swaps to rate it.

Any problems, feel free to contact me.

I want to thank @anrtist for allowing me to borrow SOME of her wording.
