Description:

A while back, I sent off a couple of mixed media (collage, etc) ATC starter "kits" to penpals who have never made one before. They both loved the kits, and asked if we could swap them again soon. So, I thought it would be a wonderful swap to host here!

The object of a Mixed Media ATC Starter Kit is to send your partner a selection of bases (e.g. Baseball Cards or heavy card stock, light cardboard, etc), a selection of backing papers, and a selection of embellishments (think beads, brads, sequins, buttons, stickers, fibres, ribbon, etc). The more interesting the better!

(This is mixed media as many people draw, paint or use other beautiful artistic means to create ATCs - this particular swap is geared towards those who love collage type ATCs)

For this swap you will have 2 partners. You will send each partner:

3 ATC bases (3.5"x2.5")
6 ATC backing papers (3.5"x2.5" or slightly larger)
10 Various Embellishments
Embellishments should be a good amount - enough to make 3 ATCs with (should your partner want to make a series of 3 similar ATCs).

Approximate amounts for embellishments:
buttons (5 would be considered 1 embellishment)
sequins (20-25, depending on size, would be 1 embellishment)
brads (5-10, depending on size)
stickers (5-10)
beads (1 oz. seed beads or 5 larger beads - no plastic unless your partner specifically wants them)
ribbons or fibres (6")
fabric (4" square)
And so forth - use your best judgement.

Please be sure that you send items you would love to receive - for example, no teacher or reward stickers, no free stickers from bananas or junk mail, nothing that is fragile or at risk of falling apart - the items must be usable!

Feel free to recycle interesting papers and bases - I personally use the cardboard from boxes or soda to make many of my bases, and various interesting junk mail/catalogues for my backing papers. As long as it is interesting, clean and usable, it's fine =)

When mailing your kits, please be sure everything is packaged well and safe from the elements (your best bet is to package everything into plastic baggies so they won't be damaged by the weather).

Please also inlcude a little note with your name, name of the swap and your username.

Please be sure you have the correct amount of postage on your envies, so that they are sure to arrive at their destination =)

No for the nitty gritty!

You will have 2 weeks to sign up and you will then have another 2 weeks to assemble both ATC Starter Kits and get them mailed. I hope this will be enough time so that you will be able to get everything made to your satisfaction :)

Please rate fairly - if you get your Kits within a reasonable time, please rate a 5. If they are extra special or your partner sends something extra, please give a heart!

You must have a minimum 4.8 rating & a completely filled out profile. No no sends in the past 6 months, no 1s or 3s in the past 6 months. Newbies are welcome with a compete profile provided they have completed 2 mailing swaps (postcards, ATCs, stickers, etc are fine, email swaps do not count)! I will be checking profiles before partners are assigned, and will remove anyone who feels iffy or does not meet the swap requirements.

Please be sure your ATC bases are standard sized - 2.5" by 3.5" (the size of a regulation poker card or standard baseball card). If you are unsure, please measure twice ;) Backing papers should be the same size or slightly larger, but not smaller.

This swap is for International, as postage should not be rediculous.

Please post below if there is anything you do not want to recieve - eg. you are allergic to scented products, latex, etc (think about possible products that could be used to make ATCs).

Any questions, Please feel free to PM me =)

Cheers all!

I have gotten some really neat things in the past, so feel free to ask me if you have something that I could recycle. (I have used a Starbucks coffee logo, the cardboard that is on holders for hot coffee, a domino, a game card from an old child's game, a piece of sheet music, and a page from a child's book. I love to recycle.) I love to use buttons. I am not big on stickers or fibers, though. THANKS!

I have extended the deadline to mail as I have had a few people ask about that. I also need a bit of extra time to send. Thanks all!

I mailed mine today, hopefully will be to my partners by the 30th. I am recovering from an auto accident and the following week, our home flooded! yikes!!
