Description:

I am slightly obsessed with 3" x 3" Cubes (or Inkbox as some call them!)

ETA: just to clarify: a "cube" is actually just a 3" x 3" flat square. Not an actual cube. When I was first introduced to them, the ones I saw were called cubes. Soon after, I saw others calling them "inkbox" cards...same thing. Think ATC...but different size! Hope this makes it more clear!!

I was introduced to this size during lockdown by Margarete Miller. If you are not familiar with her Masterboard to Minibook, you can view it Here.

You can also view her tutorials (although our swap will be slightly different) if you are not familiar.

For this swap, I am combining my obsession with Masterboards, Cubes and Halloween!

Swap Requirements:

  • You will use some type of heavy paper to create your Masterboard such as heavy watercolor paper, etc.
  • You will begin with a 6" x 6" base, and draw lines to create 4 - 3" x 3" pieces.
  • You will then create your Masterboard using whatever medium you work in (gelli prints, collage, mixed media, etc)
  • Your Masterboard will be Halloween themed. How you create that is up to you.
  • When you are finished with your background, you will then "finish" your 4 - 3" x 3" cubes (as you would an ATC, or other mini-art) - again, in a Halloween theme.
  • The goal is to have 4 pieces that are "similar" yet different.
  • Please make sure your embellishments are as flat as possible so that we can keep this fairly cheap to mail!
  • When they are completed, you will cut your Masterboard into 4 pieces.
  • You will have two (2) partners, whom you will send one (1) cube (3" x 3" ) each. The other 2 pieces you will keep for yourself.

  • I will be checking profiles before assigning partners.
  • Please make sure to send-and also rate in a timely manner and adhere to the rules of the swap-which include sending on time.
  • As with most of my swaps, this is not profile specific, so you may begin working on it at any time!
  • Any questions, please feel free to ask!!

Here is one example of my masterboard - not totally completed yet.

Yet another Link to some "cubes" I've pinned on Pinterest! Hope this helps!!

Would cardstock or cereal box cardboard work for this, instead of watercolor paper?

MamaD 08/31/2021 #

Yes, as long as it is sturdy, as you would create a base for an ATC or similar!!

Love this but so intimidated - I do have her collage planner and do my weekly spreads- Is this swap for a 3 x 3 collage? Flat? (I want so badly to play but I thik I'll wait to see what people create before I dabble in something new)

The swap is for 3 x 3 card , and you will send one to two partners!
