Description:

I'm not sure if anybody else likes this sort of theme.I suppose we'll see. I love all things ocean related. Ships, whales, shells, squid, treasure, pirates, lighthouses, colorful octopuses, anchors, jellyfish, sailors you catch my drift I think . I don't know what it is that is so beautiful to me, but hopefully others agree.

This will be a 7 point swap. I have seen this system other places but not so much around here so I'll explain.

Essentially things are broken down into 'small' 'medium' or 'large' categories. Although it doesn't necessarily have to be based on literal size. Each size is given a point value.

Small (inexpensive/takes less than an hour to make): 1 point
Medium(middle range $ worth/takes about an hour to make): 2 points
Large (On the more expensive side/large/took over an hour): 3 points

The basic idea is to send items that are of the different sizes that equate to 7 points. This is in an effort to make the packages equal in value without actually putting a price limit on them because afterall, handmade is always best in my opinion.

Remember you can do any number of combos 2 small items a medium and a large, a large and 4 small etc.

Examples: Small things: buttons, pins, earrings Medium things:set of cards and envies, necklace, several postcards Large things: Journal, tote bag with related image, stuffies

Other ideas to get the wheels turning: filled matchbox, dotees, stationary, fat quarters of fabric, drawings/paintings, charms anything goes. But please do more than one type of item.

Those are just some ideas.

You will have one partner. This is international, you must have 4.8 ratings with no recent no sends or poor ratings without explanation. Please have fun! Be creative! and ask questions I know this is set up differently than usual swaps.

EDIT

Newbies are welcome as long as they have a filled out profile and take it seriously.

Please take advantage of the comments section to put specific likes/preferences and dislikes. Note that this does not mean you get what you ask for its just something for your partner to take into consideration and use for inspiration.

Can we go over 7? Like if I chose to do 3 of the number 3s is that ok? This is a very unique swap, nice idea!

Sure you're more than welcome to do more than 7 points. I would just like that to be the minimum :)

Sharila 02/26/2009 #

Thanks! Can I also list my preferences here, like favorite marine animals etc?

hereintherain 02/26/2009 #

Sure that's a great idea. I'll edit the swap to add that too.

Isn't this the same exact swaps that they have on craftster.com. I will put this on my watch list and see how it will go with the other swaps. I will probably join closer to the date.

I got the point idea from a swap I saw on craftster but I didnt know they had one going that was this theme :(

Beadweaver 02/26/2009 #

It doesn't matter if they do have one going on, this is yours. Anyways craftster is a completely different site. Don't worry about it hun. : )

Def. don't worry, I'm glad your hosting it here on swap-bot, its a fabulous idea! I'm putting it on watch until the date gets closer. I have one word though---MERMAIDS :o) Love everything ocean, but they are the queens of it!!!

Sharila 02/27/2009 #

Favorite animals/themes: Jellyfish, cephalopods, sharks, starfish, coral reef, basicly any sealiving creature in fact! In general for this swap, I prefer what is UNDER the ocean surface, in opposite of OVER(exception is seals and their kind).

ITEMS: I will gasp in joy over ANYTHING handmade, or anything I can use to make stuff, be it paper, stickers, fabric, stationary, rubons, small embellishments, etc.

Other items I would enjoy are neclaces, cards, postcards, journals, stationary, socks, any accessories like scarf, jewelry, small purse/bag etc, Books, magazines, keyring, just a pamplet from your local aquarium/marine park would get me through the roof, Images, artwork, NAPKINS!!!, candles, ok I think I like a lot! Also anything I can decorate my house with! Rubberstamps would be awesome! or just collage pics.

Instead I can write what I dont like: Ear jewelry, sweets(chokolate is great though), wallet, childish stuff

Sharila 02/27/2009 #

Ops forgot to say I also love MERMAIDS and anything magical/fantasy underwater!!

Sharila 02/27/2009 #

AND seashells!

Sharila 02/28/2009 #

Just moving this to my watch list for a couple of days!

keahirada 03/ 6/2009 #

I love everything Nautical. Especially Lighthouses, more unique animals(not fish), and seashells. Not mermaids or pirates or ship stuff though. But whatever you send i am sure i will absolutly love.

Swan 03/ 7/2009 #

I like all the natural things most, water, seashells, interesting animals, even lugworms or their castings etc.

Also lighthouses, buoys, beach glass etc.

But pirates and mermaids not so much.

I would enjoy handmade items.

I don't wear earrings...

But don't worry too much. I'm sure I'll like what my partner chooses.
