Description: | |
This is a monthly series for an ATC featuring a face, in a loose portrait style. It was inspired by my Face Time series of handmade postcards that we created in 2020. We will make one ATC, for our one partner, each month that features a loose portrait or face predominately. Wiki's definition of portrait art is: "A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason, in photography a portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position. A portrait often shows a person looking directly at the painter or photographer, in order to most successfully engage the subject with the viewer." We will make one ATC each month that features a loose portrait, meaning it can be completely human, or animal, or creature, or some combo of the above.....just have the face you create as the predominant focus. Your eyes can be looking whatever way you choose, and do not have to be straight forward, though they can, if that's what you choose. Feel free to paint, sew, bead, mixed media, pyrography, photograph, collage, weave, etc. The art is all up the you. You may use any art medium to make your ATCs. And I truly love seeing what you all create...feel free to post photos in the forum. Your creation must contain at least one face, and how you interpret that is up to you. Please no stickers, though sticky embellishments are fine. You may orient the ATC in any direction, and ATC's are 2.5 x 3.5 inches. Please protect the ATC in some sort of sleeve. Please include your artist info on the backside of the ATC, and mail in some sort of decorated envelope. Portrait Art: Have fun! |
