TPC: Book Swap - Fantasy

Welcome to the TPC Book Swap - Fantasy, a book recommendation swap!

For this swap, you will buy a book you loved for your partner that you think they’ll like based on their Swap Bot profile, fitting the theme for the swap. This swap's theme is fantasy. You will post the book to your partner yourself (as opposed to buying it on an online retailer, and having them send it to your partner), along with a letter about why you chose that book for them, why you love it so much, and why you think your partner will love it. You can buy either new or second hand books for your partner, but they must be in a good condition.

Be sure before signing up that your country doesn’t prohibit printed books from being sent from countries outside your own. It seems small, but I’ve recently discovered there are countries that don’t allow books from other countries being sent in.

This swap requires participants to talk about books in depth on their Swap Bot profile, to help their partner choose a book.

• What kinds of stories do you like?
• Do you have preference over first or third person?
• What about the number of narrators?
• Is there a particular area within this genre you prefer?
• What about tropes, are there any that you love or absolutely hate?
• Maybe you could mention a couple of titles you really enjoyed within the genre, and a couple you really didn't like.
• Is there a particular format you prefer? (Please note, hardbacks are more expensive to buy and post than paperbacks, so if you say hardback, be aware that you may not receive one. Even more so if the book being recommended was published a number of years ago.)
• Anything else about your reading preferences/loves/hates that sticks out that will be helpful to your partner? Put it in!

You will also need to include a link to your Goodreads or StoryGraph profile if you have one (when linking your profile to Swap Bot, make sure it starts http:// and not https://, as SB is buggy and doesn't like the S), so your partner can search your Read and To Read shelves, to make sure they don't buy you a book you've already read or already own.

To search for books on your partner's Goodreads profile, go to their Read and To Read shelves, and type the book you're thinking of getting them in the search box.

To search for books on your partner's StoryGraph profile, go to their Read and To Read Pile shelves, and type the book you're thinking of getting them in the search box.

If you don't have a Goodreads or StoryGraph profile, please list at least ten books on your SB profile that fit the theme that are on your wishlist. The more you list the better, however, to increase the chances of your partner having read a book on your list, as this is a recommendation swap, not a wish list swap.

Requirements

• Please update your Swap Bot profile to discuss the fantasy books you enjoy in more depth - use the prompts above to help you if needed. This is important as it will help your partner to choose a book they think you will like.
• Add a link on your SB profile that will take your partner to your Goodreads or StoryGraph profile OR list at least ten books on your fantasy wishlist but preferably more.
• Buy your partner a fantasy book you would recommend that you think they would enjoy, new or second hand, but it must be in good condition.
• Include a letter telling your partner why you chose it, why you love it, and why you think they will love it. Include the title of this swap and your username.
• You have 3 weeks to buy your book, write your letter, and post both to your partner.
• Rating: Please make sure to promptly rate your partner a 5 if their swap meets the requirements as stated above. You must leave a note with your rating! No blank ratings! If there are any problems, please reach out to your partner before rating a 3 or even 1. You can, of course, give hearts to your discretion.
