YARN SNOB Sock Yarn Swap

Yes, this is a swap for the SOCK YARN SNOBS out there (we know who we are) who prefer higher quality sock yarns bought at Local Yarn Stores (LYS), for making socks that will last.

There is a lot of information here so be sure to read it carefully before you sign up.

This swap is intended for the types of yarns you buy at a Local Yarn Store...NOT the hobby stores like Michael’s or Joann’s that carry for example, Red Heart, Lion Brand, Vanna’s or other yarns that are not sold in LYS’s.

Examples of LYS sock yarn:

-Lorna’s Laces -Fleece Artist -Dream In Color -Noro -Yarn Pirate -Jitterbug -Claudia Hand Painted

This is not an all inclusive list, just a smattering of examples so you get the idea of what I’m talking about.

As clearly stated in the name of the swap, this is for YARN SNOBS, hence the very specific requirements. Feel free to set up your own swap if you prefer non-LYS yarns.

SWAP RULES:

You will have one partner.

You will send one skein (two if they’re the smaller ones like Lorna’s Laces, has to be enough to make a pair of socks) of Local Yarn Store sock yarn to make a pair of socks, either from your stash or you may purchase it, to your partner.

If the yarn is from your stash, you must include the ball band and it must be a full skein.

If you’re a spinner and intend to send your own yarn, be sure to include the information on yardage, needle size recommended, expected guage, etc.

Please review your partner’s profile (and update your own) to find their color preferences – if there aren’t any preferences listed, then you may send whatever colorway you like.

Aim for a dollar value of at least $20. I know there are some LYS’s that have fabulous sales on great yarn so if you get it for less, that’s cool. The point is to send some really nice, high quality LYS sock yarn to your partner. :-)

TO PARTICIPATE YOU MUST:

Have a minimum of 20 rated swaps under your belt (not including email swaps, they do not count towards the 20 rated swaps, they must be snail mail swaps).

Have a rating of 4.90 or better and NO 1’s in the last 6 months. If you have one within that timeframe and you feel it was unjustified, pm me and we’ll discuss it.

Be sure you do NOT send the hobby store sock yarns, the yarn should be from a Local Yarn Store as described above.
