USA RRJournal Swap #5

For most of the previous RR swaps, lots of the journals included a "sign-in" page, of sorts - you might want to include something like that - -

I've also seen "pockets" with "add your favorite quote" or something interactive like that - -

Remember - the journal starts in the hands of its OWNER - so you pick out something that YOU like, just please be kind and don't make it too heavy or huge, because a bunch of people are going to be mailing it to others! (And once embellishments begin, it will be heavier)

check out the forum for our group, and read jewels1' post - her flickr site has quite a few pics of journal pages if you need some ideas/inspiration.

Remember also, if you sign up for a RR swap, I MUST have a current/valid telephone number!

and the most important part - Let's have FUN with this -

we are now at seven, and I think that this is a comfortable size - please let me know if you disagree, otherwise, I will be closing the swap - - the dates will remain the same, so get your journals, you can start decorating them, be very sure to put your own name and address (and swap name) someplace on the inside front or back cover, and get ready to be inspired and moved.

Do we start by decorating a layout ourselves?

since this is YOUR journal, you really can do whatever you want - in some of the previous RR swaps, people have left their covers and most pages just "as is" - and left it up to the creativity of the group to "do whatever they wanted" - - if YOU do have a "theme" in mind, go ahead and "begin it" - and see where it ends up!

Some people may follow that lead in interesting or even unusual ways - or they MAY just veer from it, with just a hint of your "theme" - I really do hope that everyone just lets themselves GO with their art!

Just be VERY sure that your own name, address and swap name are WRITTEN clearly somewhere inside the front or back cover, so that it CAN always make it back home! (see jewels1 note to my post about these RR swaps, in the forum)

Also, be sure that ALL of us remember to sign the pages that we do for each other!

Personally, I love "margin notes" - and will start some in my journal, and hope that everyone will add some of their own to lots of pages - -

And even if we aren't very artsy, we can ALL be encouraging!

Every journal I worked in from the three other round robins I was in was completely different, there's really not a "right" way to do it, so don't sweat it, just have a blast!

Hi There, Sorry I didn't post here...I've been somewhat distracted with a couple of family issues. (though I am up to date on sending things!) It's pouring rain here, the light and fan in my craft room are out, the electrician will be here in an hour, because I could NOT get through this rainy weekend with THAT room in the dark!

Kitchen, bathroom, even laundry room, can fade into the dimness, but NOT my crafting room! Haha

Just got Mouseybrat's journal today...running up to work on it in my studio this evening!

I've sent out emails to everyone - and found out that mouseybrat does have jewel's journal - to be sent onward Saturday - so I think that ALL the journals have been accounted for - she has not yet received Poggy's, so that's in transit - hopefully that clears things up - and reassures everyone. I'm having printer issues, and hope to have Mouseybrat's journal done and sent by Tuesday. I may need to completely replace the darn thing! I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I've got nothing new to report, as I have no journal right now - and I am definitely bitten with the journaling bug! But I got up this morning and can see the SUN! It has been overcast and rainy here for too many days in a row. I hope everyone has a great week!

I still have one journal in hand (it should have gone out before Carol's, but I've been having trouble with the theme. I think I now have an idea of how to approach Heather's (redsockz) book. I'll post when it goes postal.

we have NOT heard from Poggy since March 6, when she posted that she had received Artistic and my journals - even tho jewels has since received them and sent them onward, so we at least know where those are - -

I have not received anything since March 6th & I sent both books on March 9th. This is why I have not written. Sorry if this scared people, but I have nothing to report. I will write as soon as I receive a Journal to work on.

Well I now see what caused some confusion. I was sure that I had posted on 3-9-09 that I had sent 2 books onward, but now I see I did not. I wrote it in my book but forgot to post. I am sorry this cause confusion & it won't happen again. Artistic, I am so excited to get another book to work on. I have liked the books I have seen so far.

I currently have no journals.....waaaaa!!! This would have been the perfect rainy weekend to work on them, too. I'll keep checking the mailbox!

it's great to see that some of these are travelling together, but it also means that some of us are "without" - like jewels, I'm also "sans journal" - - and missing it terribly - the withdrawal symptoms show up as extra trips to Hobby Lobby (even when I have plenty of stuff already!), actually trying to sit through a boring movie late at night, and wanting to throw something if I run out of chocolate - - so please, pretty please, bring on another journal!

actually, they ARE moving very well, I've worked in four journals, already, so let's enjoy these, and let the ideas and inspirations just pour forth!

I"m so excited to see my journal coming back soon! I received Artistic's in the mail yesterday. I know I won't get to it until next week, as I'm embroiled in an online class until Tuesday, but after that… It's looking very good, btw!

if you are all keeping track, of the journeys of these little beauties, you know that we are winding down, on this swap - most of us have worked in 4-5 journals, which is fabulous! I'm still without, but see that they are "on the move", so am greatly encouraged by it!

I'm going to start another round robin journal swap in another month or so, be watching for it, if you've interested!

I am still here but don't have any journals. The last one I worked on was Grams.

Sorry, my girls made it to the National Archery Competition, which is held in Kentucky (we're in Pennsylvania), and at the last minute, our school actually decided to fund the trip, so off we all went to Kentucky for 5 days! I'm working on the journals now and will try to have them out by tomorrow.

Hi Everyone, I don't have any news to report. I sent out Poggy and Artistic's books on 5/5. Since then is has been a yawning wasteland of no journals at all.....sigh Hope everyone is having a good week? I am on the second week of a new job and loving it! Jewels, congrats on your girls making it to the NAC!! You must be so proud!!!

Just thought I would pop in & say that I am journal-less.

I have to apologize, my FIL ended up in the hospital again, and we've been out of town, back and forth 250 miles (each way, whew), three times this week already - -

I DO have THREE journals, right now, Poggy's, Artistic 's, and Jewel's - and will put them IN THE MAIL Monday - (I'm still in the Dallas area, but heading back home this afternoon, and will be home all weekend) - then yes, Artistic - your journal will be headed HOME - and I'll send the other two in the same box, so you can work them and get them sent onward as well.

Whew! I made it back to the swap. I was clearing out the groups that didn't seem to have much activity -- not realizing that this swap was via a group. As some of you may recall, I was a little hesitant at first because I've been burned so many times on round robin/circle journals. Not only was this the fastest ever to get home to me, each artist really put in effort and creativity making my journal special.

Haven't received journals yet and I'm leaving town until the 24th on Friday, so I won't have a chance to work on any until after I get back. I should be receiving mine and Heather's soon. Mousybrat was sending on Saturday according to the post. I hope they get here before I leave!

Okay, i'm really getting worried about my journal now, I hope it makes it's way home. Artistic, if you don't have time to work in it, could you just send it on? It would be such a disappointment to lose it after all the hard work and heart work these wonderful artists have put into it.

there is a flickr group that was started for the previous journal swaps - for everyone in all the swaps to post pics there - if you'd like, you can join that group, and post pics there, or let me know, and I'll start another "new" round robin journal group there, and we can all get our pics posted to that one - - let me know - I'd LOVE to see all the photos of all the wonderful books - each of us got to see everyone else's journals, but some of them were just starting out, and we only saw the very beginning, or maybe WE were the very first to post in it, so it would still be a wonderful surprise!

what is the name of the flickr group??

I think the group was called Round Robin Journals, but my photos are on my own flickr photostream - http://www.flickr.com/photos/juliajo1/

There are photos of pages I did and recieved in the last journal swaps, along with photos of Round Robin ATCs we all mailed around and each added something to.

I'm finally done and will be getting Redsockz journal in the mail today! I'll also post pics of my completed journal to the website.

i think it could be done again - - what changes would you want to see, from this one? the web addy for the RR group in flickr for the earlier rr swaps is at http://www.flickr.com/groups/roundrobinjournals/ i'm pretty sure you can still join that one - - even tho I did NOT start that group, I was a part of it, and I did host all six of the roundrobin swaps that drew the members to that flickr group - - and even if you cannot join, (I've not seen or heard anything from suzylucie, the coordinator of that flickr group in a very long time) - check out the photos there, there are over 35 of us, who were a part of that group, and lots of people posted their pics - -

if you'd like, I'd be happy to start up a new flickr group for THIS swap, - - and any other future rr swaps - (I have no control over that :present" one, since I wasn't the host of that flickr group tho) - - just let me know - -
