A Georgian Charm

Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen, It is with the greatest honour bestowed upon me, to be your very own Master of Ceremonies for the season of our Amberleigh Village Assembly Rooms at the Rose & Crown.

And as Launcelot has described, for our swap we shall make each other a charm to go on an open chain link bracelet. To clarify this means that each link in the chain is large & round to allow your charm to dangle forthwith.

Charm to be no larger than 1/2 inch (1.7cm) roughly. So let us imagine a scrabble tile size. That will be ample to dangle from a bracelet without causing undue frustration. It can be smaller if you desire a petite beaded dangle.

Things I perceive to be Georgian/Regency in our Amberleigh era, might be a mother of pearl button charm, an old boot button or collar stud, or an old brass button from gma's button box. A stacked array of small gem or pearl or glass beads, or tiny collar buttons. A twisted wire and bead dangle. A piece of old earing used as a charm. You might be very creative and stitch a tiny offering in Georgian colours or Toile fabrics etc. or brickstitch seed beads. 2nd hand shops or thrift stores are great sources of old jewellery for components if that is more tempting.

There are many ways to present your piece. You might dismantle an old bracelet or necklace and simply use part of it on a jump ring. When making from scratch usually the use of a headpin or jewellery wire is threaded with your piece and a loop created at the top for a jump ring to go through. As long as there is a loop at the top, there is no need to include an extra jumpring.

To send your charm, keep it safe between a small note card that you have written with a short cheerful greeting using your characters name or your own if you would prefer to use it.
