Description:

The inspiration for this swap comes from an older issue of Somerset Studio, and was created as a canvas. For our swap, we're going to adapt the techniques to a tag. I think these would be wonderful as an addition to a journal.

For this swap, start with a large size #8 manilla shipping tag. Size is 6.25 x 3 1/8" If you don't have one, feel free to create one out of sturdy cardstock, but make sure you angle the top corners and add a hole (shouldn't just be a plain rectangle).

The Tutorial Basics

Some supplies needed (some are optional):

Pencil, paint brush, gel medium, white gesso, acrylic paints, collage embellishments, copy of old photographs, design stencil(s), ephemera or patterned scrapbook papers.

Full tutorial for this project will be in the group forum (link is above). Remember, this is Somerset inspired so your finished project does not need to be exactly as shown.

Feel free to use your creativity and ideas to make it your own.

Let's agree to include the following:

  • copy of old photo
  • white gesso
  • pencil work (with stencils, free hand, details to your photo)
  • use of a stencil (numbers, letters, design, etc.) with your pencil
  • lightly decorate the back of your tag
  • on the back, include user name, swap name, and date
