Mini art quilts are just that, a creation (like art) that you make in quilt format, and includes top, batting and backing all quilted together in a quilt sandwich.

A. This series of mini’s art quilts each quilt should be: 6 X 6 inch up to 12 X 12 inch and does not have to be square. (round, rectangle, triangle, - it is art so be creative)

B. Senders choice – you can add embroidery, beads, buttons, ribbon, applique, paper-piece, fabric yoyo’s, any embellishments

C. hand or machine quilted

D. Hangers are allowed, not required

Round #1: must have at least 8 half square triangles in it, in any pattern, color combination senders want.

Round #2: must have 3 different polka dot prints (can have more polka dots and any other prints you want) any quilt pattern or design you want

Round #3: have at least one flower (made by yoyo’s, pieced or appliqued)

Round #4: use at least one fabric with animal print, can have actual animals on it, or be animal skin print

Round #5: use at least one FABRIC with word/document/musical print

Making Half-Square Triangles:

1. take 2 fabric charms of equal size (example: 4 inches by 4 inches)

2. on wrong side of the lightest charm draw a diagonal line from upper left corner to lower right corner

3. place the 2 charms in a stack right sides together

4. stitch one-quarter inch seam on either side of the drawn line

5. cut on drawn line

6. press open both HSTS

7. square them up (example: to 3 ½” X 3 ½”) (google this if you need more help, because a picture of squaring up is much easier to understand – to me that is)
