Description:

This is made from a 32 page mini composition notebook. You can buy some beautiful ones on wish or at Michaels for really cheep. To prep your mini composition notebook you glue 2 pages together through the whole thing. This will make 16 workable pages to be fully decorated front and back. This is not a write in it journal you will send it to your partner completely done. Big fatties are composition notebooks stuffed to the gills with as much as you can think to put in it. The object to get it as thick as possible. Composition notebooks can take it and will not come apart. This will be a mixed media journal. Anything goes there is no theme for this. Just make it art.

Saddly this means that some weight will happen and so I am making this for USA members only because I can not at this time afford to send a journal international. I am sorry all of you international people. But if you like the idea steal it. Make one for your country to join.

Since I know that art journals take a long time to complete and since the big fatty has the extra crammed in enjoyables, I am giving lots of time to complete this.

This is ment to make you think out side the box, try things you haven't. Play with items you haven't played with before. Don't just smash junk try making it art. This one is a lot of work so please be serious in the commitment. Make it something you would want to receive.

One last thing I almost forgot make sure the mini big fatty has a way to keep it closed. Ribbon ties work best but really you can make ant closure. The closure must be attached to the book not something that comes completely off.

Newbie friendly be creative and have fun!

@LadyCyr What size is the composition notebook supposed to be?

LadyCyr 05/18/2018 #

The mini size. 32 pages my guess cause I don't have a ruler would be about the size of large post cards or if you place your hand on the front cover it barely fits. Not the big 50 page composition books that are normal paper size like the ones you use in college.

Ok thank you! @LadyCyr

Just some cool thoughts on stuffing it... Things that are 3d like bottle caps, buttons, ribond, metal or wood or glass embellishments, beads, and safety pins or paperclips. All so adding things like flip outs, waterfalls, belly bands, pockets, tuck spots, envelopes, paper bags, shakers and tags add both thickness and weight but also make it fun and interactive to discover. Add surprises, like a box fold of a four corner fold that has something cool to discover on the last part of the fold, many if u r really clever a pop up page. Its totally OK to have things that stick out like a ribbon w a charm tied to it, as long as the page it sticks out from it contributes to. Its not supposed to be a jounk journal although lots of big fatties I've seen are exactly that, I'm hoping that these big fatties are artistic and creative on every page. If you want you can add in pages but the requirements is only 16 pages front and back which is how many pages there are once you have glued every 2 pages together. I have been practicing with one I am making for myself I have done about 4 pages already it has more than doubled in thickness. I post pages as I complete them, at least for my practice one and I have a standard full size one also, that I post pics of if u r stuck for ideas in my instagram @ladycyr Please feel free to take a look. YouTube gas lots of composition style journals. Liz Drake on youtube has a regular size one she has been working on for years now and weighs over 2 lbs. Its mostly a junk journal in her case but watching some of the big fatty posts she has will give you an idea what we are going for with this swap. I know art journals are huge projects I've participated in several on here usually they have about a month of time to work on it. I've given 3 whole months of summer to work on them in hopes that each one will be a wonderfully magickal treasure to the person who gets it. Also BTW these mini composition books are really really cheep. I've seen them at Michaels for 2$ each and Michaels always has coupons on your order so you can get them cheaper. I've seen them on wish a set of 4 for 90 cents and 2$ shipping. Since this swap has a lot of tome to work on it wish is an option if you don't mind waiting on shipments to come to you. I think I've seen them for 96 cents each at Wallmart but since its been a while since I looked at Wallmart I'm not 100% on that. I do hope that everyone watching decides to join. Also tell your swap buddies to join this one too so we can make it a big pool of swappers. You never know if we get enough people I may do a drawing and give a prize to someone who receives a 5 rating from their partner. It is newbie friendly as I know many a new person needs a good artsy swap to get established. :)

PS... The pages because they are smaller in size than a standard size one seam to come together really fast. Much faster than I thought they would so there truely is lots of time to work on it :)

For all those watching this please tell me what would intice you to please join

Can this journal have a few jj or magpie elements added in it or just strictly art? I want to join but I am new to art journals and have only made magpies and junk journals.

LadyCyr 05/24/2018 #

Yes because the definition of big fatty is to make it big and fat. Most big fatties are junk journals and from what tiny bit I know about a magpie is that its a collection kind of thing right?? So I think That would work fine for this. I've seen lots of junk journals that are very artsy. As long as its not strictly Trash mixed media to me includes eliments of everything. Its a pretty open anything goes I use food coloring w alcohol, salt sugar Chinese shimmer ink and water to get different effects. I think food coloring is an odd art supply but its great and cool for this kind of thing. I have also used a licorice bag as a pocket as well as a popcorn bag, as long as its clean. :) I hope this helps.

PS I got the mini composition note book off wish in the mail today. Its a little bigger and has 40 pages instead of 32 so if you order on wish know its a bit bigger, still fine to do the 4 extra pages. And it was only 1 book I actually thought 4 would be coming.

Hello everyone. One more page I will be 1/2 way through the one I'm making for this swap I'd love knowing how all of you are doing :)

LadyCyr 07/ 2/2018 #

I hope everyone is having fun w this I have completed my personal keeper of this and am now 1/2 way through the one I'm doing for the swap and its looking really good so far. I don't know how many of you look in on big project swaps like this but I think it would be fun fearing from everyone about how the work on their swap journals are coming along. Alsoi have a few pages needing finishing touches in the form of quotes so if you have any good ones that might fit I'd be apperative thank you and continue having fun 😊
