Think Spring Paint Can Swap!!

Oh, when I said fill with spring time things, ideas could be based on a theme. "For the garden" and fill it with seeds, garden tools. "Garden Gnomes" and fill it full of gnome goodies...I would love that HINT HINT! "Spring Tea" with lemon cookies, tea bags, tea cup, honey... Get the idea??

Hello Fairykiss, I am in your last paintcan swap, actually just finishing up and should be out by Saturday =) I was wondering that since the 26th is the last day to sign up for this one, that maybe you could make an acception since my partner may not rate me on the 26th && therefore I would have no feedback. =S Let me know. This will be my first paint can swap. I worked on one of these a few years ago for my daughter to keep her kitty keepsakes in. She still has it and it's filled with all kinds of goodies now!

I would love to sign up for this one but I have never made one. Can you please give me some tips on making them. I have seen them and looked over them. I have ideas but not sure on the what kind of adhesive to make things stick to the can. Is this making any sense?????

Scoutmom, it's not as hard has I thought it would be at first. I did a google search on "altered paint cans" and it came up with all sorts of great info. There is even a company that sells them as gift basket type things.
I used scrapbook paper and all purpose tacky craft glue to cover the can and from there I just decorated it with other little odds and ends (hot glue or tacky glue would work for that). If you want more info on it feel free to email me.

Is there a store that sells the cans?

Ace hardware or do it best sells them (I had to ask for one because they use them in displays) for somewhere around 2.50. Lowes and Home Depot sell them around 4 dollars. Scrapbooking stores sell them for around 5, and Oriental Trading Co. also sell them online or in the catalogs.

I found mine at my local paint store. They had ones without handles for $2.50 and ones with handles for $3.00, but I had to ask for them. The last swap was a LOT of FUN. I hadn't decorated a paint can before. I'm going to make them for Easter for the family. :D

I was just curious are you using the quart sized paint can or the larger sized paint cans?

Paint can size should be the gallon with or without a handle. OR if you contact your partner to see if it's ok, 2 quart ones.

My swap left this morning and it's on it's way to.....I'll leave it a surprise. I will give a hint. though...their zodiac sign is Gemini.

Paint can came dirty, things not packed inside of it so they were broken. Outside was construction paper glued onto can. Marker was used for a couple of flowers. I'm wondering if much time went into this being involved in over 100 swaps?
