Swap Details:

5-Partners

5-Pieces of Mail Art either all the same or a combination.

Send out 5 receive 5 back.If there are lots of interest we will do it next month with a theme.

Newbies are welcome if you don't send on this one i will ban you from all my swaps. Those with a 4.0 feedback are also welcome.Lets get started creating.

There is now a yahoo group for bad swappers with lists of names and aliases. Its very sad when someone joins up and then doesn't send.To that end if you are a newbie and join one of my swaps your name will be checked against that list.I will also send you an email and you will need to provide me with at least 3 refrences or 3 people you have sent your swaps to.I will then allow you to stay in and play.

Sorry we have to do this but it's the best way to insure everyone will receive something.

just to clarify: this is one piece to each of 5 people, is that right?

funkykchicken 03/14/2007 #

Yes you will send each person 1 piece of your mail art. They donot have to be big pieces either. You could make a small zine,ATC,Postcard,Letter and a 4x4 collage piece as well. You can google faux postage and design it on line then print it out.

It can be as big of a piece as you like as well.In other words if you want to make say a news letter it could be 8 1/2 x 11 and then folded down and sealed with a piece of tape.Put a postage stamp on it.Its alot of fun and so easy to do.

You can also do just 5 ATC's though i do hope we will all try to branch out and try something new.

Different mediums I've received.Wax Art,Bits of grass and flowers glued and then modpoged to a card.Fabric interwoven straw.Whatever you like to do or work with then do it.

I know this probably more then you wanted to know.I just wanted to get the creative juices flowing.

I have a question. I've always wanted to try "naked mail" and was thinking of trying to send this to my five partners. Now, what will have to be agreed upon is that IF my partners don't get their Naked Mail (I will let them know exactly the day I mail out from the post office) that they email Me and let me know so that I can send out a more "appropriate" piece of mailart.

Does this sound reasonable and does this make sense?

Donnaj

funkykchicken 03/19/2007 #

Yes i think that sounds reasonable.

I missed this swap when scrolling through the list of open swaps. Good thing I read the Swap-Bog blog 'cause I love mailart.

There is a neat site with lots of envelope mailart, The Envelope Collective, http://www.envelopecollective.com/ and one of the most bizarre forums I've ever read.

SharonP 03/22/2007 #

Mail art is just too much fun so I had to jump in! I do appreciate that you allow lots of time to get things sent off. I see I could mail one piece each week and easily meet the send deadline.

funkykchicken 03/27/2007 #

It will be lots of fun and yes most importantly easy and quick to finish and send off.I'm so glad more have decided to join us.I would love to hear what everyone plans to send or is doing for their partners.

Sara, Julie, Jeanne, Kelly & Marlene - I posted your mailart yesterday. It should take around two weeks to reach you from South Africa, and I do hope it gets there safely. If nothing arrives by around 11 May, please let me know, and I will gladly replace it.

uhskee 04/14/2007 #

(Ha ha here it is again ... I accidently posted the following comment at another swap. But I've checked and double-checked to make sure I'm in the right place this time!) ::: Mailed out two of five so far: cookiebear (Canada) and cecilia x (Germany). Hope to hear from you both that my items arrived without any trouble :) I posted them on Thu 4/12

Panda 04/24/2007 #

A little help for little ol forgetful me...

ok so i've sent out mail art to 4 people so far but I only remember 3 of the people I sent to (Erna, Dreamstealer, anndri) So theres 2 people I have left... FunckyChickenoriginals, and artsponge. 1 of you I sent to, and the other I didn't....

So Funckychickenorinals and artsponge please let me know if I sent to you or not. I lost my poor list of names and addresses that I started crossing off and I don't want to end up acidentaly not sending to some one... yikes!

Panda 04/25/2007 #

nvm........ I got it. My husband said he "acidentaly" threw my address away.... yeah right!!!! LOL!

Erna 04/25/2007 #

hi Panda!

I keep all my records on my PC - because I am highly likely to lose any pieces of paper all by myself (no help from husband needed!) I made a swap-bot document with a table, and I copy and paste everything onto it as soon as I have done it or get it: names, addresses, send-by dates, receive dates, dates posted, ratings, etc. Terribly efficient, what? I surprize myself, sometimes, because by nature I am a messer-upper. I have never learnt the first fundamental of tidyness that my mother tried to teach me: put a thing away when you've used it.

PaisleyBabe 04/28/2007 #

Erna - I received your fabulous card this past week. It is so awesome! Thank you SO much! I totally love it! :)

I received a great mail art postcard with a quote from John Ruskin today from Carter-chan. Thanks! I especially appreciate Ruskin and the Pre-Raphaelites, so the quote is perfect. I like the way you were creative with the stamps and the address -- and it managed to get to me anyway!

SharonP 05/12/2007 #

Received a swell mail art postcard from NMJulie today -- full of smiles and lips!

stlouisphile 05/15/2007 #

Hi All,

I sent mine out "Naked Mail" -- if you haven't received your package by Friday please email me and I'll send out a more traditional item. The post office clerk told me it should get to everyone (in the US) by Tuesday or Wednesday so that's today 5/15 or 5/16...

Donna

Erna 05/22/2007 #
