Description:

All members in good standing with a well filled out profile are welcome to join this one. You will have 1 partner, and this is International. This should be a 1 stamp swap. (Postage from USA to International should be about $1.15)

EDIT 8/4 I changed the line from "1 ounce" to "1 stamp". I do not know the stamp rates for other countries, and am trying to keep this a low cost, low stress swap. So if you are in the US, this will be 1 ounce. If you are outside the US, send the swap for 1 stamp. I hope this helps!!

You will make one standard sized envelope out of any paper you wish - magazine pages, scrapbook paper, wrapping paper, calendar pages, old maps (Just be sure to reinforce the edges with thinner paper so it isn't destroyed in the mail). This site might help: https://www.thebalance.com/free-envelope-templates-1357463

Inside the envelope, include a note with the swap name, your swap-bot ID and a note to your partner. Include a small flat surprise - note card, sticker sheet, cute note paper, washi tape samples, post card - just be sure it is in nice, new condition. This swap is sender's choice, but it's always nice to personalize it if you can. :) Just keep it all to one ounce/one stamp

So that's it: make an envelope, include a note to your partner and a small flat surprise, and mail out on time! Edit I changed the swap type from 2 to 3, because of the crafting of an envelope.

Questions? Comments? Concerns? Please PM me! I don't always see the comments on the swap page. If your profile isn't filled out enough, I will PM you. If I PM you, please respond!

Such a difference in weight and postage rates! When I send something abroad from the Netherlands this will be the rates: 0-20 grams: € 1,33 20-50 grams: € 2,66

But.....I signed up! ;-)

As a seasoned envelope maker, I'd like to add my 2 cents that magazine pages are really too thin to make envelopes out of. I've found that they tend to rip easily when sent though the mail.

Also, if you don't happen to have an envelope punch board or other handy tool for making envelopes, you can always take any envelope that you have on hand and gently take it apart and then trace it onto a heavier material to make a template. :)

@uiltje - I've changed the swap - EDIT 8/4 I changed the line from "1 ounce" to "1 stamp". I do not know the stamp rates for other countries, and am trying to keep this a low cost, low stress swap. So if you are in the US, this will be 1 ounce. If you are outside the US, send the swap for 1 stamp. I hope this helps!!

Sorry, I'm still sorting out postage ratings for other countries! I hope this helps. Sorry I didn't see your comment sooner.

@ArtyBeth3 - yes, I agree. I do not like magazine pages or wrapping paper for mailing envelopes, either. I've heard - and received - envelopes that are reinforced with tape or lined with plastic or other paper and that seems to work. But magazine pages seem to be the popular paper for swaps. I like to use scrapbook paper, personally - it's a good size and the paper is thicker. :)
