Description:

Translated, Tawashi means, literally, "scrub brush" in Japanese. In popular craft culture, a tawashi is a cute little scrubbie or washcloth, often done in amigurumi style crochet with cotton yarn.

For this swap, you will have one partner for whom you will make (2) tawashis. At least one should be amigurumi style. (A fish, a person, a piece of fruit, a flower, etc.) Cotton or acrylic yarn may be used, as both are washable - 100% wool is not recommended, as it will felt when washed. Please make something you would be happy to receive. Flickr, Google and Etsy are great places to mine for ideas and patterns.

Swappers MUST have a rating no lower that 4.8 and NO (and I mean NO) no-sends within the past 3 months. (Please PM me BEFORE signing up if you feel you have been rated unfairly.) Newbies are welcome with a completed profile. Please email me with questions. If it is clear you have not read the description, I will delete you from the swap.

This is an international swap, as this should be low-cost to ship.

Can you post some links for us? I've never made or even heard of it (though I'm a pretty mean googler, if I do say so myself!)

I do google.jp with tranlator on so I can find free original japanese patterns. Hehe, you'll be amazed of what you can find that way found this site http://www.hamanaka.co.jp/make/ no need for japanese, just roll your mouse over the links and you can read the link in plain english in the left bottom corner of the browser! (ps. green links are tawashi's)

so - by Amigurumi style, does that just mean it needs a face?? - or does that mean it has to be started in a ring & use only SC?? - I am not sure what you mean by the amigurumi style tawashi. - I have put this on watch until that is more clear.

Basically any amigurumi made into a washcloth, a face is nice, but not necessary. A fish, a person, an egg, a flower, something that is not a simple square washcloth. Etsy is a great place to find ideas. Do a Google image search and you'll see lots of fish, flowers, oranges, etc.

Hope this helps!
