Description:

Wide Open Spaces, the series continues ... with sunshine. Sun on the hills, sun on the lake, sun on your city block, sun on a row of fishing shacks ... Interpret a wide open land, city, town, or sea-scape with sun in three or more parts that can fit in a standard envelope.

I just found out that a piece of art that is made up of panels is called a "polyptych!" In this series, we are creating a landscape in three or more pieces. Each piece will fit in a standard letter (C6 or DL) envelope. The landscape should show a contiguous wide open space. There are many, many ways to design a polyptych, including "tiling" (search subway tiles patterns online for ideas), horizontal and vertical orientations with same-sized and differently-sized pieces, even differently-shaped pieces. Search images for "polyptych" and you will find examples of these ideas. I will post selected examples below, and might even post a video of ideas with my new-found courage! Any media welcome, as long as it meets the criteria of fitting into an envelope in a flattish way.

[Image is by Claudius Schultze, and is a photo of Leon Frederic's triptych "The Chalk Sellers."] You can see the countryside, a city in the background, some powerful yet humble figures, and, of course, the sun peeking through the mist.

Open to all ZMACS members in good standing. Please don't let your fears keep your sun from shining through via your participation -- you are among friends at ZMACS, art is a way to explore the world around us and within us! I will send some sunshine to anyone who does not receive them from their partner :)
