Description:

For this sharing we will be making tiny books from one sheet of paper which are written very simply.

Please use this blue wonder word to go to a page where it will tell you if your words are simple enough. Red is bad. You cannot have red words in your tiny book, they are too not simple.

Your tiny book can be about anything you like, but it has to have some writing in it. I would suggest running through a page you wrote in your personal book safe place or something like that. Your tiny book will seem a little off but that is ok. That is the point. It should be fun.

If you have any questions let me know and I will answer you in less simple words. Writing this was hard.

Start when you want. It is up to you what to send.

(translation for anyone confused.)

For this swap we're making minizines where all the text inside has been run through the "simple writer" website. The website highlights any words that are statistically uncommon in red. Your minizine cannot have any red words (NOT EVEN FOR YOUR USER NAME- HA) so you will need to get creative with synonyms and phrasing.

Your zine can be any subject. If you have a page from your journal or something similar handy that might be a good place to start. I really suggest starting with something you have already written and then going through to edit it to be more simple afterwards. Poetry is a kick in the pants to do.

It will read very silly. You can add illustrations or whatever, just make sure you have a decent amount of text.

Sender's choice, start whenever

Does it have to be something we wrote ourselves? Or can we use a passage from a book and run it through the simplifier?

oblivionspin 12/15/2016 #

I think wrote yourself for this one, but any type of writing (even writing out how you cook your favorite meal, or transcribing found poetry or notes in your planner) is fine, so you don't have to be "a writer" to join.

I like the book passage idea for a future swap, might do a transcribe a song lyric on a postcard one pretty soon, actually. (:

OMG, "bat" is a red word. This is soooo hard, Met!

oblivionspin 12/16/2016 #

Heh I was going to suggest flying mouse but mouse is red too. "nice night time almost bird" is the closest I have so far.

BelfryBat 12/17/2016 #

Ha! I got warm soft flying night thing. This is going to be a literary masterpiece

jukejan 12/17/2016 #

I think I need more coffee....

oblivionspin 12/18/2016 #

@jukejan That sentence has no red! Very good :D

craftyone 12/19/2016 #

This is going to be way too funny.

oblivionspin 12/30/2016 #

Have fun! :D

bigmamabird 12/30/2016 #

Haha, big mother bird is okay, but not mama or mom or ma!

oblivionspin 12/31/2016 #

yeaaaahhh it was round about translating my user name that I began to regret having the word "oblivion" in it. Oddly enough, "spin" is perfectly fine. O.o
