hello!~ i have been in a book making mood lately & am looking to do a swap! if you don't know, an artist's book is not a book containing art, but where the book itself is the art. what i am looking for is not anything too fancy, any sort of little book will do as long as it has some hand made original elements to it (as opposed to just a photocopied zine). even if you've never made a book before, i'd love for you to try!~ i have organized some swaps in the past and have some scans of the entries, mostly just cover scans, you can see them here to get some ideas: http://static_cling.webs.com/op/organized.htm any kind of binding is acceptable, including staples. your book can include a little story or poem or just pictures or be more sculptural, whatever you want! however, this is a MINI book swap, and so the only guideline i ask for is that all dimensions must be smaller than 3" (approx. 7.6cm). you will have 2 partners to send to. you can make both books the same (or similar) or they can be completely different, it is up to you. the style, content, number of pages, etc.. is also your choice! feel free to experiment and have fun! so, in short details are: 2x mini artist books, smaller than 3"

I'm curious as to why you don't want to use the SB system for pairing partners? How will ratings work with your system?

You've completed ONE type 3 swap (6 total) here in the eight years you've been here - before you start hosting, you should familiarize yourself with the rules about swapping and hosting.

If you have run swaps like this on other sites, that's great..... you might want to list this on them. It's not the way this one works - partners send directly to each other, not to a central host that picks and chooses who gets what. Partners can't be rated for what they send.

If you want to give swapbot a real go, beef up your profile and join some swaps to get the lay of the land before you try hosting. It will make it go more smoothly for yourself and your swappers. :)

Unfortunately, this isn't at all how this site is designed. Partners are automatically assigned by the system once you hit assign partners - and it's a random generation. Then partners rate each other. They can't be rated for a swap that's centrally managed as you're proposing - and this site was designed as a break away from that kind of swapping.

There are plenty of other sites where that sort of exchange is done and if you aren't happy with the mechanisms here, perhaps this isn't the best place for you to swap.

How about postage costs for the return envelopes? You didn't mention about it. Will you pay the postage costs of all the return envelopes yourself?

ok. i have now changed the details. my initial intention was just to make things easier for everyone, but i do see now that with the rating system and everything else already in place that i was kind of doing the opposite. hopefully the changes have helped!

the number of pages is entirely up to you, as well as the content. a lot of times the little books i make have around 6 to 8 pages, but sometimes even just 4.

The number of partners is kinda high perhaps you would have more joiners with fewer partners.
