Description:

Once when I wanted to try something new, to go beyond the safety of my favorite story subjects, I used a Writing Prompt Generator to give me a first sentence. Sure, it was harder to write a story that way, but it also made me write and learn, and in the end I loved it!

For this swap you will write a story starting with the following sentences:

"Nothing stood in her way now. She dropped the shotgun on the bed and went to get cleaned up."

I got this from the generator at Adam Maxwell's Fiction Lounge.

Your story can be about anything and everything, as long as the prompt is your first sentence! Fiction and non-fiction, everything is okay! Please try to make your story at least 500 words, explore the prompt!

You may be rated down if your story doesn't have the prompt as the first sentence.

So once again.... an at least 500 words long story with this as the first sentences:

"Nothing stood in her way now. She dropped the shotgun on the bed and went to get cleaned up."

Hello! This is going to be my first swap in this group (I hope) so I have some questions, sorry if they should be obvious:

  • Is it OK to print this out for sending or does it have to be handwritten? Or is it electronic?!

  • I'm assuming anything goes, but is bad language OK? I have a very foul-mouthed character who just waltzed in...

  • Is there an upper word limit?

Thank you! :)

@hellowheeze thank you for joining! This is a type 3 swap so it is sent by mail :-) I prefer typed but if you have clear handwriting that is okay too. I am okay with bad language but please consider your partner, contact them if you're in doubt! There is no such thing as too much communication :-) And there is no upper word limit :D

Thanks! I thought it was probably sent by physical mail, but I have seen one or two electronic swaps that were classed as type 3 because of the effort involved.Typed is perfect, my ability to write by hand has declined dramatically since I left university :)

I shall do as you suggest and communicate, always the best way :)
