I have been listening to my daughter sing "Demons" for over two years ... maybe more? Sometime during Year One of her soulful renditions of dark things hiding inside her innocent young soul, I began to keep myself sane by making up lyrics about them stealing my underwear, hiding my shampoo, and eating all the left over dessert. I wondered and pondered -- WHY do the demons hide? WHERE do they hide? WHAT are they hiding from? WHO are these demons, anyway? Then, one day, I woke up and realized that this is the perfect theme for a swap. Especially since Old Harry's Game is back on BBC iPlayer. Make one ATC-sized demon (any shape ATC your heart desires). It can be a personal demon that you need to exorcise, an adorable Kawaii demon, a rakshasa, oni, yaoguai or mogui, a demon from fiction, or merely a fictional demon. The definition of "demon" is clearly a personal interpretation. Then make a pocket for it to hide out in. A tree fort, your heart, a couch cushion, a sand dune in the Sahara, a rocket ship ... Quetzalovercoatl clearly would do well in a small space, whereas Crowley would probably prefer his larger 1926 Bentley. Agares clearly needs room for his crocodile. Send it to one partner, with an explanation or not. I am thinking that this might be a good series ... when you collect a whole closet full of demons hiding, you could set them loose at the nearest gathering of demagogues. |
