Description:

I have these ideas in my head. And I end up not doing them because of ... to little time .. too little motivation ... putting things off ... you know what I mean.

Let's motivate each other!!

1st step

Each participant will write in the comment section 1 art project (big or small) s/he would like to do, always wanted to try. Maybe some want to try the same thing and can help each other out, share some inspiration. If you cannot decide on one, then either make up your mind before sign up deadline or ask around. I will drop users who have not set their art goal prior to assigning partners

2nd step

You will finish this art project and then take pictures of it. Either scan it (if possible) or take a good picture with your camera. But please pay attention that you can see it well, maybe take two or three with detail shots?

This is about your art and your motivation so obviously you can do whatever you like.

3rd step

Then, after finishing, send your partner a picture via email. (This is then for rating)

I encourage all participants to comment and criticise, as this is never meant to be personal, but to give us another point of view on our art. It is so easy to get lost in detail and forget the overall picture.

We now have a facebook group. You need to be approved, but all of you can join :) Even if you skip a month or two, come join and see all the others work.

I encourage everybody to do this. Even if you might not be completely happy with the outcome, maybe others can give you useful tipps on how to improve!

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1580705518810888/

For those who don't use facebook but still would like to share their work with the rest of the group I will gladly add them for them. But this is always optional of course :)

Since this includes no sending/receiving physical mail, I will allow all users, but yet reserve the right to ban if you seem to bail on this project.

I had the idea for this swap, because I find it easier to motivate myself to do more of what I always put up till another time if others join me in a "deadline".

Examples of projects:

  • Make a picture in a particular style (maybe a new one??)

  • Let's say you like to draw and always wanted a to start/finish a series, then you could say: "I will draw 3 pictures in this style to add to this series"

  • Design a set of ... ATCs, Greeting Cards, playing cards, a calendar, etc.

  • Learn a new technique and in this case show us your examples, steps and improvement

  • You could say "I want to sketch something every day" and then show us all your amazing artwork

  • Maybe your crafts are a little bigger, like a new piece of furniture?

  • Sculpt, sew, paint .... ANYTHING you have always wanted to do and never did ;)

I hope you now know what I mean.

Hope some will join, and please, ANY craft is welcome.

Rating guideline It has happened that some send late (I did too once) or some sent something other than what they initially named to be their project....how to rate then? Here are some tipps I hope that help:

If your partner sends late

  • Everyone should notify the other person if they send late! It can happen and can be tolerated for a time.

  • If your partner sends late (with prior notice) and you feel like it was in an acceptable Γ’β‚¬β€œ or communicated Γ’β‚¬β€œ timeline, please rate a 5.

  • If your partner does not notify you, be so kind to send a reminder. If there is no reply after the two weeks of swap-bot regulations, feel free to rate a 1.

If your partner send a different project

This is really tough, as they sent something ...

  • You may rate a 3. That is your absolute right, as projects are mandatory to be assigned prior to assigning partners. But then please be so kind to explain a bit in the comment of the rating.

  • If you feel the alternative project is comparable in work amount and effort, you can decide whether you rather rate a 5. Here you can also mention, that this was another project but you felt it at the same level as the other one in the comment section of the rating.

I really hope this helps clarifying. If there are questions remaining, please message me or add a comment.

I hereby pledge to finish the production of a miniature pirate's treasure in 1:12 scale. It will be made to be as realistic as possible with a multitude of treasures and coins. I promise to do this by August 31st and send a photo to my partner. THIS WILL BE FUN!!!

I have a canvas half finished with a Julie nutting doll and a cello. I'm always forgetting to work on it. If I don't complete that I want to practice my calligraphy more. You may get a finished quote or just a lot of repetition in the form of worksheets. Not sure yet. I want to experiment with thickening some watery inks I have so it may be pretty colourful!

I've been waiting for a swap like this to happen. Either somebody was going to initiate it or I was! The only reason I haven't joined yet is because... Well, I'm already in more swaps than I can chew! This could go a couple of ways... I'm a watercolorist, but I also draw. I like doing ATCs and I also like doing sculpey and crochet... This may be the motivation I need to keep making art!

When I first joined SB a couple of years ago there was swap for making a zine or journal and putting something in it every day for the month of November. I was scared to join it because I didn't know if I could follow through on such (to me) a big commitment.

But then I thought, "Well I don't have to join the swap, I'll just start doing it on my own." And voila! The fear of the big commitment was gone and I had a great time making the first (and best) zine i ever made.

So I'm going to do it again. A Month of Creativity - August 2016!

I've made up my mind. I'm going to learn how to make a granny square and combine my new ability into a bigger project. Perhaps a scarf or a baby Afghan. If there's time in the month, I may even make a little extra something or teach myself. We'll just start with the granny squares though. ^^

ahhhh .... my next month's project ... what should I pick.

Why not try again making a calender. I want to finish two months. Either I will theme them by month or maybe by starsign. So I will do the upcoming months first: Spetember and Ocotboer or Virgo and Libra

I need to get my butt in gear and get some vinyl/wood signs made! Just starting is overwhelming at times! A cheerleader would be so helpful!
