Description:

Pickle, pickle, whose got the pickle? There is a tradition that says-hide a pickle ornament in your Christmas tree and the first person to spot it gets an extra surprise from under the tree! I have wanted to do this every year since I heard about it! What better way to motivate me than make a swap! Who's in with me? This year we WILL be having the Christmas pickle tradition!

Feel free to use any medium of your choice: fabric, felt, knitting, crochet, clay, papier mache',...just please make a 3 dimensional pickle and not just a paper cutout.

No Newbies! SORRY! I reserve the right to ban anyone suspicious, flaky, or otherwise a questionable swapper. This swap is for the talented, experienced, reliable swapper only!

These will be very light for shipping so this is an INTERNATIONAL Swap! (I love our Int'l swappers!) Welcome and Thanks for joining us! Go ahead and get busy on your pickle as soon as you sign up! I made the send time with plenty of time for it to arrive before xmas.

Don't hang your pickle on the tree until xmas eve! Hide it good, or hide it easy for the very young. Then the first person to find it gets an extra surprise. A great tradition, loved by the young and young at heart.

We do this every year with a glass pickle. I can't wait to get a handmade one

I'm so excited! I'm sure I'll have a few (I have many ideas) made before the swap date-do contact me if you need any angels. ;)

What do you spose a good size for this would be?

myrrhmaid 09/10/2008 #

The pickle pictured is about 4 inches, not including the hanger. I would say no smaller than your thumb and no bigger than...a real pickle! Thanks for the angel offer THB! Let's hope we don't need to! But thank you for offering. I really appreciate it!

This one's on the watchlist--- I hope I can get in on it... We spend weeks last year looking at every store in town trying to find a pickle for our christmas tree and couldn't find one. They'd all sold out.

This is a German tradition- you hide the pickle in the tree and the child who finds it gets a special prize. My grandmother told my mother about this tradition a few years ago. Mom has had a pickle on her tree ever since.

I got so inspired that I had to start on these... I've made four of them so far, and keep thinking of people I want to make more for! Check out the completed ones on my flickr

Everyone in this swap has a perfect rating! I love that! Thanks for coming out to play swap, considering the weather and time of year and all. :)
