Description:

So, every new year I think, "This year, I'm going to make all my Christmas presents." And yet, it usually never happens ... HA HA!

So, for 2016, I was thinking those of us who like making handmade gifts could help each other with inspiration and planning, to stay on track and get a wide variety of gifts made for all the people on our list throughout the year.

You will have 2 swap partners. For each swap, there will be two patterns/craft tutorials to send. The first pattern/craft will be for a specific person you might need a gift for (such as fathers, sister-in-laws, best friend), and the other will be on a specific theme (such as stocking stuffers, food, elves) or medium (such as crochet, felt, or beads.)

The patterns/tutorials you choose to send are sender's choice aside from the specifications above. However, it is NICE if you can look over your partner's profile and/or comments below to see if there are certain crafts they don't like or don't know how to do (for instance, I don't knit.) But again, that's your choice.

Please choose crafty ideas that look fun and fairly easy, but nothing childish. (Ie, stay away from children's crafts.) Let's make things we'd be happy to receive. Things that look professional enough to have been bought in a store (whether that's a retail store, Etsy shop, or small town gift shop.)

Hoping to do one a month, and with 2 partners each sending 2 things, that should give you 4 different ideas to make for gifts every month, for a total of 48 different crafts/tutorials throughout the year. Hopefully that will give you plenty of ideas for anyone on your Christmas list!

JANUARY:

Send, via email, to your 2 partners:

  1. A craft pattern/tutorial to make a Christmas gift for sister-in-law' (or sisters of your S.O.) If you don't have SIL's, you can still join, and make your gifts for any other female on your list that you think might like the craft ideas you get.

  2. A craft pattern/tutorial for a Christmas ornament that could be used as a 'package tie-on' or as a small gift in and of itself.

Any questions, let me know!

Have an idea for a giftee for craft #1 or for a theme for craft #2? Let me know! :)

What a fabulous idea! I don't crochet but then again it could be a 2016 project to learn how to :)

@Moineau that's the spirit. :) Sometimes I see a project I can't make, but it inspires me to try something similar in a craft that I do know how to do. Or, maybe I will learn to knit this year. My older sister is trying to get me to. I tried a couple times and failed. lol

Hello, Does the tutorial or pattern need to be created by us, or can it be one we found on a website?

@A the tutorials and patterns can be ones you find online. that is actually what I had in mind.

@marylm This is an email swap. I will assign partners, and once they have been assigned, you will see a link in the top right hand yellow box that says 'see who you send to.' You click that, and it will provide the email address of your swap partner, as well as a clickable username so that you can look at their profile. :) I willmessage you too.
