Description:
  • You will have 1 partner and you must create 1 ATC for that partner.

  • This means a total of 1 ATC

  • Standard ATC rules apply.... 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches

  • What is a Snowglobe ATC? You might ask ;) Well...... you create an ATC that resembles a snowglobe :)

I created mine by cutting my base from some nice think cardboard. I cut the interior shapes into that same base piece, but you could add them later too if you wanted, though making it one piece keeps it nice and flat.

Decorate your center for your snowglobe any way you'd like! Make sure to color the back as you will be able to see it :)

Now take a piece of clear plastic (thick cellophane works good... I used a piece from the packaging that my origami paper came in... you could also use thick freezer bags or even that clear vinyl you can get at fabric stores and Walmart) It must be stiff plastic so that you can work with it. Run around the sides and top with the sewing machine to secure the pieces together. You could also do this before cutting it out to make it easier to work with.

Now you put some glitter or snow inside the packet, slide your base in, making the bottom edge flush with the bottom edge of the plastic, and sew along the bottom to secure everything together!

I put a little drop of superglue on the bottom corners to secure the thread ends.

Viola! Snowglobe ATC! :D

I hope everyone has fun making these! It might take some trial and error, but I think they are unique and fun! I think it would be fun to collect one from each state ;) Just like real snowglobes :) Please see your partners profile for theme ideas! But it is sender's choice!

  • Newbies welcome with a full profile! All others must have 4.5 Rating or better and NO recent No-Sends! I will check out all participants before assigning partners.

Feel free to contact me with any questions!

I forgot to say, this is an International swap! Shipping for something this small and light won't be that much more. And I think global swapping of art is the best! Hope this does not cause a problem for anyone already signed up!

I've made several similar ATCs using two pieces of clear vinyl sewn into a pouch and filled with sequins, fibers, etc. You can see them in my flickr...

Those are really neat Panda! I like how you put them on backgrounds..... reminds me of the quilting technique that they do with the tulle. Well you are certainly are one step ahead already :D

This looks like it's really fun. I'm going to try it though, before I sign up . . . don't always trust my abilities on new stuff - lol.

I love making ATC's and postcards like this! I'm in!

do they necessarily need to have a snow/christmas/winter theme?

Guitartists 09/11/2008 #

Nope... they can be classic souvenir style, or your favorite cartoon character.... glitter, snow, whatever :D Be creative :)

does the snowglobe have to be the full size? or can it be the focus point of the atc

Guitartists 09/13/2008 #

The ATC itself IS the snowglobe, so it should be full-size.

Wow. This was harder than I thought. I was thinking more of a shaker card when I signed up. But then I saw the post from 9/13 that the card...IS...a snowglobe. I'm a bit nervous about what I made, and I'm excited to see what other people did.

I think you will be fine :) This was a challenge after all... and I am excited to see how they turn out :)
