EDITED!! If you want to make a banner, but don't have a sewing machine, put it together anyway that you can. Read Joan's suggestions in the comment section

We haven't done a banner in a while. I made a garland using cupcake liners! All you need is one pack of decorative liners. I bought some at Michaels in the dollar section a long time ago. I decided to make something creative since I don't bake! I sewed them flat, side by side. I used 2 different contrasting liners, side by side. I also put each liner wrong side together so front and back looked pretty. I hope this makes sense! It takes 40 liners to make 20 length wise, with the double layer. Colorful summer colors, think of hangin I it across a railing or top of a picture window or mantle. 4th of July is around the bend, that will be festive idea. Packaging might be tricky, maybe a large envelope might be necessary. But your saving on inexpensive liners! So: one festive cupcake-liner garland to fill your partners home with some color. One partner, garland should be at least 20 liners wide so that it can be displayed for all to see! It really adds some joy to an area. The Photo is my garland on my railing outside of my bedroom.

Any ideas about putting these together without sewing?

BeckyG56 05/ 1/2015 #

I'm not sure Glenna. .unless it's hand sewn. That would be painfully slow! Anyone else have any ideas?

Becky, is it a requirement for them to be sewn? I'm thinking they could be attached back-to-back on baker's twine or ribbon with hot glue, brads or a strong craft glue? Is that acceptable? You might have better participation if sewing is not required?

I found some neat ideas on Youtube!

I shortened the sign up time. If interest is lacking, I'll delete it. That's ok, not everyone loves banners like I do! : )

Becky, I was kind of waiting for your answer on whether they need to be hand sewn.

Actually, my question was do they have to be sewn or can they be attached in other ways with ribbon or whatever. This is a fun idea but maybe not my cup of tea unless I'm having a party?

Sorry Joan, I just saw your comment. I only made it a sewing project, because I thought that might be the easiest way to attach them together. If you want to put it together a different way, that's fine with me! They do look cute once they're put together. You can have your cake and eat it too!

Okay, Becky. I'm going to give it a try. It may even get me to clear off a sewing space : )
