Description:

I used to see these a lot back on a site called nervousness.org (funny name, but it was a great swap site!)

Pick a Theme means each person chooses the theme they would like their partner to create for them. Post your favorite theme or themes in the comments section below when you sign up for the swap. List as many or as few as you like. :)

Chunky means heavily embellished. This can mean layers of felt, embroidery, or ephemera like buttons, brads, zippers, beads, etc. The idea is that this card should be too thick to fit into a standard ATC sleeve when it is finished. (Use a ziplock bag or plastic wrap instead for mailing.) Any base media is OK- fabric, cork, cardboard, plastic, etc, as long as it is standard ATC size.

Make sure that all ephemera is securely attached to the card! Use sewing, brads, rubber cement, or hot glue, etc. and send in a small bubble mailer, not a flat envelope. You wouldn't want your masterpiece to fall apart before it arrives!

And lastly, make sure the back of the card looks nice also. Suggestions are printable labels, pretty fabric, or simply gesso the back and sign your name and swap title in ink or acrylic. Do not leave it blank, or leave cereal box logos on them please!

Newby friendly with full profiles and at least 1 recent type 3 swap, tag, or one-on-one trade with a good rating. Swappers with multiple recent low ratings will be dropped.

Since this can be a bit time/labor intensive, you will only have one partner to send to, and due to the cost of postage, this one will be U.S.A. only. (Feel free to copy my post and host an international version, if you like. :)

I'll start by listing my favorite themes:

Geisha
Steampunk
Marie Antoinette/Rococo/Sweet Lolita

Have fun!

I am ok with the 21st..I have a quick question...chunk means what? Is it the boxy type ATC with six sides or can it be a very elaborate/lots of goodies added standard size ATC? This will be my first one, so I want to make sure.

GrrrMeoww 02/ 7/2015 #

@JypsyJenifer The boxy ones are very cool, and if you are able to, and want to make one in that style, I'm sure your swap partner would be thrilled, but it's not required. :)

Just a standard ATC, heavily decorated, is all you need. Ephemera can extend beyond the ATC edges like in the swap image above, just be sure to leave the bottom edge mostly flat so that the card can be displayed on an easel if your partner chooses. :)

Thanks for asking!
