Description:

In this swap, we will all make one mini book with pockets using only one sheet of 12x12 double sided patterned paper.

After the book is made, you will add little tags or papers or other ephemera to half the pockets/pages before you send it to your partner.

One book to one partner. Sender's choice as to the design on the paper.

I found a great tutorial on youtube to follow:

I've seen this technique before and think it's cool. What kinds of scrapbook paper do you all use. I have a 12x12 pad, but the paper is so thin and flimsy. You don't want to too thick that it doesn't fold right. Help.

@ArtyBeth I use paper that is 2 sided (design on both sides)...I usually use either Tim Holtz or K&Company....it's more like card stock instead of paper so it's sturdier and makes nice little books for swaps like this......:-)

I have some Graphic 45 paper I'm itching to use!

Could you glue 2 sheets of paper together that are one sided to make it 2 sided & sturdier?

marymary914 01/ 3/2015 #

I don't know that I would recommend that, Creative Rinds. Unless you could make sure the papers are perfectly straight and not rippled from the glue. It would be really tricky. I wouldn't want to see any of that happening to the book you are trying to make and I wouldn't want to receive one like that.

Okay :)

I've made a few of these and have used regular paper (not very heavy) and cardstock. With cardstock, you just need to make sure everything it creased really well. I always go over all creases with my bone folder just to make sure. Either paper will work just fine, though.

Quick question, does the album have to be like the one pictured? I have two ways of doing them and I just wanted to make sure!

As long as it's mini sized and has pockets, I don't see why not, drgngirl

I made mine ahead to make sure and it looks pretty good. I'm going to ink the edges to make them look nice. Also, are we decorating and adding embellishments or just add things inside the pockets?

marymary914 01/ 8/2015 #

You can embellish it how you want, you just don't have to fill all the pockets.

Ok Thanks!
