Description:

This is a revamped version of the original swap which was just way to confusing. Hopefully, this one will be easier to understand. :)

This will work as a no boundaries paste and pass essentially, except that what you add to it will be determined by a list of available techniques and applications. Each card may have each technique and application appear only once so with each round, the list will get shorter.

Start off with a 5x7 or similar sized backing card. Apply some sort of background keeping it fairly neutral meaning not too busy. A simple blend of 2 or 3 colors or some printed papers collaged or something along those lines will work. This is to keep the focus on the additions. On the back of the card, put 6 spaces where the message would normally go. In space number one put your name and address. This is what you will send out for round one. These cards will circulate naked.

In round 2 and subsequent rounds you will look at the back of the card to see what if any applications and techniques have been used already. From the list below, choose one application and one technique, that haven't already been used, and apply them to the card. Put your name, the date and what application and technique you applied to the card in the appropriate space on the back of the card. Cover over your address with your partners address and send forth. :)

The last person to add to the card will choose an unused application and technique from the list, apply them to the card and send the card home to the owner.

Some Inspiration Ideas:

TECHNIQUES

Plastic bag printing

Napkin transfer

Gelli plate printing (on other paper or directly on the card)

Stamp with ink or paint using a random household object

Freehand painting w/ acrylic

Apply some watercolour paint

Tape transfer

Doodle

Apply a rub on or (as an alternative maybe a carefully chosen sticker)

Apply some color with either Gelatos, Pastels, or crayons. (On other paper or directly on the card)

Use a resist technique

Apply some texture with modelling paste, thick gesso or other method

APPLICATIONS

Rubber stamp image

Glue magazine or book image

Add several dots

Add at least one circle in any medium

Add an arrow

Draw 3 lines

Rub ink on the edges

Add a letter either with paint or ink

Add 3 stars

Add found word or phrase

Add a symbol ($,&,@,*,%,#,¥,£, etc)

Add a small embellishment or two (keep these flat)

Add paint or ink using a stencil or piece of sequin waste

I'm hoping to get about 6 people or more to join this but if not we can keep circulating the cards maybe. Thoughts? If anyone has questions, please feel free to message me.

If anyone has a cool idea to add to the list of techniques or applications, let me know and I will add it. :)

Have fun!

This seems a lot more clear than the previous edition ;). Some more technique ideas: spray inks(though I know not everyone has them), watercolors and stitching. I'm sure I'll come up with more random ideas later as well :).
