My name is Meri M. and I am addicted to food. I have at least 10 things to share about my addiction. Do you have some kind of addiction as well and feel the need to share about it?

Write down (at least) 10 things about your addiction. These can be secrets you haven’t shared with anyone before, or simple facts that are driving you crazy. Discomfort, embarrassments, therapies, consequences, reasons... whatever. If you are addicted to food, you may have sought for food in the trash. If you have an alcohol problem, you may have drunk and driven at the same time. If you are gambler, you may be borrowing money beyond limits and are going bankrupt. Be honest and just write it down.

How do we feel now, seeing it all on the paper, these secrets of ours? Rereading about our worst nightmares we can honestly see ourselves in those situations… But instead of feeling contempt we can choose to actually love and forgive ourselves. So at the end of your writing you need to write something about forgiving yourself, about acceptance, love, anything you feel in your heart. Then send it off to your (1) swap partner and consider this day a Success. Many more will follow.

You can handwrite (make it legible) or type. Don’t write one-word facts, be a little more detailed so that your partner can understand/relate better.

The writing for this swap is very personal therefore respect and discretion is expected.

I hope it's ok for me to join this swap - let me explain and then you can drop me if you feel that would be best. I'm not sure I'm "addicted" to something in the same way you are describing. I just don't want to disappoint my partner with what I share. There are things that are hard for me - trying to give up pop (soft drinks), staying on a monetary budget (digging myself out of debt), making my kids more independent, dealing with anxiety and depression, etc. I was planning on writing about these types of things - and really go into a lot of detail and my thoughts, emotions, struggles, etc. Does this sound ok - and suitable for this swap? Or, would it be better if I drop out? Don't worry - you won't hurt my feelings! :)

Welcome to the swap. This swap is not to compare ourselves how addicted or unaddicted we are, it is about sharing and healing.
