I love this one!!

A prayer flag is a colorful rectangular cloth, often found strung along mountain ridges and peaks high in the Himalayas. They are used to bless the surrounding countryside and for other purposes. Prayer flags are believed to have originated with Bon, which predated Buddhism in Tibet.

Prayer Flags are inscribed with auspicious symbols, invocations, prayers, and mantras. Tibetan Buddhists for centuries have planted these flags outside their homes and places of spiritual practice for the wind to carry the beneficent vibrations across the countryside. Prayer flags are said to bring happiness, long life and prosperity to the flag planter and those in the vicinity. Dharma prints bear traditional Buddhist symbols, protectors and enlightened beings. As the Buddhist spiritual approach is non-theistic, the elements of Tantric iconography do not stand for external beings, but represent aspects of enlightened mind i.e. compassion, perfect action, fearlessness, etc. Displayed with respect, Dharma prints impart a feeling of harmony and bring to mind the precious teachings.

Lets make our own Prayer flag, there is a lot of information on the internet about it. In Pinterest there a many images.

Be creative! And please make a nice one.

Materials: Fabric, ribbons, buttons, felt, yarm ect. Sizes; about 15 or 20 by 10 or 15 cm should be rectangular.

You can make one for Hope, strength, compassion, life, love, ect ect.

I will check all profiles and angel if needed.

I will make this one with plenty time for making.

Have fun

You have this as an electronic swap.....?

heliogal 08/19/2014 #

Wow this looks like a very cool swap. I was confused by the type catagory being Type 1: electronic. Do we send pictures of a prayer flag or do we actually make a flag and then send it? Also, if we are to make a flag what are the dimensions suppose to be? This looks like a wonderful opportunity to get creative and put some heart and soul into it.

Im also interested if its making a real flag and sendig. Also would they be fabric?

ChristieAnn566 08/19/2014 #

yes please elaborate on size and material we need to use on the flag

Meisje 08/19/2014 #

Hi I have made some changes, it is not electronic but you must send a real fabric flag. I also edit sizes in cm, And you can use any kind of fabric and materials. I must be a real flag so please make it possible to hang in the wind.

Thank you for the clarifications.

I think this is a brilliant concept. I make prayer flags all the time and usually make a rope of them. I've never made just one like this and can hardly wait to start on it.

He Chantal, superleuk idee! Heb nu geen tijd (nog een paar daagjes voor we de baby verwelkomen) maar als je deze swap ooit herhaald, doe ik mee :)

Time is running quick, some havent send out there flags. Some have and have arrived safely and proudly. Please send your items on time, if you are not going to make it...let your partner know. But we all had a month to make I don't think time should be a issue.
