Description:

This swap is simple. You will print the world map from the comment section below. You will read. Your will put a star on the MAIN country your book took place in. Each book should only be on your map 1 time. You will add the title, author, country name and you will rate it 1-5 (1 is poor and 5 is great). You can use a key method or try to list the info in the country. I will put a link to a map in the comments below. Feel free to print the map in color or black and white. YOU WILL MAKE A COPY OF YOUR MAP AND SEND IT - NOT THE ORIGINAL! You can continue your same map for 3rd and 4th quarter if you chose to join or you can start anew. I've set a late join date, but start as soon as you can. You should try to have at least 3 books by the send date.

Please make sure to include ratings! One of my partners for the first quarter didn't do that, and it was kind of disappointing. It felt much less personal that way, if that makes any sense.

Question: what about non-fiction books that don't really have a setting? Should we just leave them off the list?

Link to the map?

(oops, just posted this list on a different reading log swap even though it is more relevant to this one!)

I read a story on the BBC news site today about a woman who read a book from every country in the world. (i can't track down the article i read - pretty sure it was at BBC but search is not turning it up) Her list is here (list of recommendations she received, more than the 196 books she read):

So if you want to broaden your reading, take a look. I'm going to try to choose one from Asia & Africa & Australia, since those continents were left off my 1st quarter list.

That is too cool, camelsamba! I'm gonna check that out! Non-fiction, if not about a place, should probably go in the Author's country. Thanks for asking.

Ps - we found it easier to find our own maps and work with what we like than one map that not everyone loves.

Does it have to be this world? I read mostly sci-fi and fantasy. Right now I am reading Middle Earth. I don't think Mirkwood and Imladris are on the map. :)

I could always print out a map of Middle Earth

Will there be a 3rd quarter?

Yes, it is up
