Description:

Do you like sending and receiving vintage flat mail? If so, you should join this swap!

One thing I would like to clear up right away is that all of the items you send must be vintage (as in around 20 years or older... this means early 90s (or 1994 if you want to get really specific) and older). No reproductions, "vintage look" items, collage sheet printouts on printer paper... you get the idea.

You will send a minimum of eight different vintage flat items to each of your two partners (for a minimum of 16 pieces total). You are more than welcome to send more than eight to each partner.

Your items must be from at least four of the following categories, but you can of course send more of a variety if you choose:

  • wallpaper, gift wrap or other printed/patterned paper (i.e. contact paper or tissue paper at least 4" x 6" in size)
  • book pages (mostly text)
  • children's book or magazine illustrations
  • images from books or magazines (geared towards adults)
  • die cuts
  • flashcards
  • postcards
  • greeting cards
  • stationery, postalettes, notecards
  • photos
  • playing cards (two will count as one item)
  • stickers (four not tiny ones will count as one item)
  • postage stamps (six will count as one item)
  • air mail labels (four will count as one item)
  • air mail envelopes
  • play money/board game money
  • board game cards
  • tickets (three will count as one item)
  • coupons
  • canned food labels
  • x-rays
  • transparencies
  • fabric (at least 4" x 6")
  • ribbon or trim (at least 6" long)
  • lace
  • paper doily
  • paper napkin or placemat with some print/design on it
  • sheet music
  • cardboard that has an image, pattern or text
  • bookmarks
  • library card catalog cards
  • Any other vintage flat ephemera/item that you can think of! (This will just be one category... feel free to comment on the swap page if you have other ideas!)

Please include a note with your Swap-bot username and the swap name. Some people participate in a lot of swaps and the items for this swap could pass for another swap's items. Also if you think there's any chance of your partner not counting your 8+ items as coming from 4 different categories, make a note of which ones they are.

This swap is sender's choice, but please check your partners' profiles for dislikes and avoid those if at all possible. Your partner will be happier if you send things s/he would like, but that's up to you.

I have set the minimum rating at 4.95. No recent unexplained 1s or 3s. (This means if you have 1s or 3s I need to see that you've responded to them.) No newbies so if you're new get at least one flat mail swap rating in before the signup deadline and then you won't technically be a newbie anymore! Please have at least a paragraph/list or two about what types of things you like and what arts/crafts/swaps you do because some people try to send their partners things they will like. I will be checking profiles and may ban anyone I think may end up flaking when the day to assign partners comes. This may include people who are late on swaps or haven't logged in for almost a week.

One last thing: I am not sure how successful this swap will be and can't say if I will host it again. (Hosting public swaps is not a very easy thing for me, mainly because of checking people's profiles and communicating with people who are iffy... and sometimes the backlash I get for banning.) If it's been a while after this one is over and you'd like to take over you're more than welcome to.

Okay this is really the last thing: If you are unfortunate enough to have a flaker for a partner I will angel for you, but first you have to contact your swap partner... and then if things don't work out rate them a 1. Then message me.

EDIT: Please note I have merged a few of the categories above because they are very similar.

To the eight of you who are watching this swap: If you have 3s or 1s please join sooner rather than later. I will help you by getting in touch with your past partners to make sure they've updated their ratings/comments if you resent. If you wait until the last minute (or a couple days before) the signup deadline to join I won't have time to communicate with you/your past partners if you have unresolved non-5 ratings and you will likely be banned.

Is there any way I can join this swap????

jaz1yn 02/ 2/2014 #

Hi, @savannahsmiles4u and thanks for your comment. It looks like you've already completed four swaps (3 flat and 1 package) and are just waiting for your ratings come in... hopefully at least one of your partners will rate you within the next two weeks! You can go ahead and signup now if you want to or wait until you've been rated, whichever you prefer.

I'd like to sign up now, but I don't get the prompt to do so.

Hi Charmaine, I'm sorry I didn't realize you can't sign up until you've been rated, but that should happen soon enough if you've already completed several swaps. Thanks for your interest!

Thanks for your quick responses. I sure hope I can get my ratings before the deadline ends on this one. Thanks again! Charmaine
