Description:

Since joining Swap-Bot, something I've fallen in love with is Whimsey Jars! I love shopping for things I can put in them and have been making some up already. I can't be the only one. I will be doing a series I call "Color Me Whimsey" Create a whimsey jar filled with the color theme of the swap. If you do every swap you will end up with a rainbow of whimsey jars plus a few extra.

For those who may be new to whimsey jars, they are jars filled with all kinds of goodies (crafts supplies, stickers, candy etc). Jars should be at least 12 oz and could be plastic or glass. However they should also be decorated on the outside. I personally use recycled pasta jars. I find they work the best. (Cleaned first of course)

This swap will be swap two and is themed to the color ORANGE. Fill your jar with items that are all or mostly ORANGE. Please send clean items. No garbage. This is not a good swap to get rid of dirty items. It may be a good opportunity to pass along some quality items you may not yourself use. Please send something you would like to receive.

Newbies allowed with filled out profile

Future Swaps include:

3-Yellow 4-Green 5-Blue 6-Purple 7-Pink 8-Black 9-White 10-Brown/Gold 11-Gray/Silver

How big do the jars need to be?

MelinaBea 12/28/2013 #

This is great! Will you be hosting an international version?

mariewilliams810 12/28/2013 #

@Kbrewer About 12+ oz. I have a great description in the first swap of the series. See http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/165555

@MelindaBea Due to shipping costs (considering I usually use glass jars), unfortunatly I won't be hosting an international version. However, you or anyone who wants can host a version of this series for the international folks. Feel free. The more whimsey jars the merrier!

@mariewilliams810 Thanks for your response, I might host an Australian version when I'm more experienced.

Anyone know how I can reduce the shipping costs? My first jar cost $11+. I'm not sure I can continue paying that much.

Swap send deadline was extended to accommodate MLK day.

PolkaDotty Ship it priority flat rate in a small box (You can get these boxes free online or at your post office) and I think it is between $5 & $6 or send it standard mail (Whichever s cheaper.)

I used a pint sized jar (16 oz) and that wouldn't fit in a small flat rate box. Am I missing something? What kind of jars is everyone else using?

mariewilliams810 01/14/2014 #

Try using a plastic jar such as a peanut butter jar.
