Description:

You will send two 7" basic traditional granny squares to each of your assigned partners. Everyone will have 2 partners so you will be mailing out a total of 4 grannies, 2 to each partner.

IMPORTANT!!! Each granny must be made using the basic traditional granny square pattern. Also, you MUST use a 4-ply worsted weight acrylic yarn. DO NOT use cotton or wool for these squares and DO NOT use anything lighter than 4-ply. You must use a different color yarn for each round so that each granny will have a rainbow of colors, thus the swap name. The number of rounds depends on the size hook you use and how tight/loose you crochet. Please measure your squares accurately and make sure that they are as close to 7 inches as possible! ALSO Make sure all ends are woven in and clipped!! AND both squares should be different from each other.

Any questions, please send me a message. Rating requirement for 4.8 and up. With no recent 1's or 3's. Newbies welcome with a WELL filled out and detailed profile. (Yes, I do check.)

Also ~ I live in "Boonyville" and sometimes our internet connection isn't very good. This is especially true when it rains & in the winter months. So please be patient, partners will get assigned and if needed I will extend the send date.

I would like to have a "challenge" square once in awhile. September 2013 we did a "Fall" themed square.

In the comment section add a granny square tip that you use.

My tip: Several years ago I bought some of the shoe box size storage boxes. I filled them with small balls of leftover yarn, a crochet hook, a pair of scissors and a yarn needle and put them in each of our vehicles. Now while I have to wait, I work on granny squares. I even crochet while waiting at road construction stops!

I am just learning to crochet but I'm loving making granny squares. I'm concerned the quality of my work might not be as great as my partners. Obviously I will do my very best work - but do you think it's OK to join?

@seekingjoy today - everyone crochets differently, so yes, you are welcome.

Sometimes I take a small ball of yarn and a hook with me to amusement parks. If I'm waiting in line for a ride I do a few rounds. It helps to pass the time.

I'm new but I would love to be able to join this swap. You said to leave a granny square tip in the comments so here is mine. After making any project I use the left over yarn to make a granny square. Then when I have enough piece them together and you have a quick afghan or pillow etc without spending a lot of time on it. :)

Here's my tip when changing colors often:
As I am working, I carry the tail ends of my previous color yarn at the back of my work, and work my new color stitches around them. This encases the "tail" of the previous color in the stitches and means I will not have to weave in ends later. After stitching over the tail about 3-4 times, I tug gently on the tail and cut it as ode as I can. After cutting, the tail pulls back underneath the work, hidden and finished!
