Description:

In tough times, it's easy to focus on all the things we don't have. This swap isn't about that. In the spirit of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, this swap is to get us thinking about all the things for which we should be grateful.

You will send TWO things to your partner.

  • A letter, that includes at least 3 paragraphs explaining what you are thankful for. Each paragraph should mention something from one of the following categories, and all three categories should be covered in your letter:

    • Person(s)
    • Place
    • Thing

So, as an example: you might write a paragraph about why you are grateful for your best friend, a second paragraph about being thankful for your public library, and a third paragraph about your appreciation for coffee. Three paragraphs, three different topics. You get the idea.

Your letter can be typed or hand written, whichever you prefer.

  • A little flat something for your partner to enjoy. Check their profile for specific likes/dislikes. Ideas: stickers, bookmark, artist trading card, postcard, notecard, die cuts, etc. Can be handcrafted or store-bought. Handcrafted items should be well-made.

Send on time. Letters should arrive well before Thanksgiving.
Rate promptly and accurately. (This is your way of showing gratitude to your partner!)
Communicate if there are problems.

I monitor the participant list daily but generally don't remove problem swappers until just before assigning partners. I reserve the right to remove anyone whom I think may be a problem swapper.

Newbies welcome with a filled profile.

Thank YOU for hosting such a wonderful swap. I just featured it on the Swap-bot blog HERE.

I love this swap! If you ever host one that includes Canada too, I'll be game.

Sounds like a great swap. But could only do it if there was an international version..

Sternenfee 10/18/2013 #

Wonderful idea. I'd also love an international one.

I think it's a fabulous idea. We all gave things to be thankful for even if things aren't going too well. I'm thankful for my postman who brings me such delightful nail from my swap partners and friends!!!! Thanks for hosting. If you need some one to host an international version I'd be happy to. I love mail from overseas.

Congrats on your swap being in the top 10 today. Good for you TC!

Working on going through profiles. I will assign partners later today. :)

For the record, I have allowed in two people who have 1s on their profile. They both contacted me proactively, we had a discussion, and I trust that they are already working to remedy the rating. If this had been a Type 3 swap, I would not have allowed them to participate.

Twelve other people were banned for having late swaps on their dashboard, having a history of being late senders (especially bad for holiday themed swaps!), having mostly blank profiles, or for sending poor quality swaps. One of the twelve was a double-profiling flaker.

Everyone else checked out okay, and I trust you all will follow through with sending great letters and lovely small gifts! Newbies, please contact me if you have questions, and above all, HAVE FUN!

I am glad I handed mine to a postal worker. It felt a little heavy to me. It needed another 20 cents postage! I was flabbergasted that flat mail would need that much more, but I am so glad I didn't just drop it in the box!

Be careful with the postage, y'all!

I put an extra 20 cents on mine, too. The item I sent was a little rigid and I didn't want it to get torn up in the postal machines.

I sent this out about 4 to 6 days ago, but forgot to mark as sent. Sorry.
