Do you like museums? If yes, what kind (art, science, history, other)?

I prefer history and natural science museums, but I enjoy some art too. In terms of art, I prefer modern art, folk art, and special exhibits (my local art museum once had an exhibit with a robot theme). I also love gardens.

What do you like to see or do when you visit another city or country?

I love to see local stores and eat in non-touristy and non-pretentious restaurants. I love artist's studios, street art, farmer's markets, craft fairs, theater, and live music. I love looking at buildings, especially old ones.

How would you describe your travel style?

Slow. I love to walk everywhere. I don't drive, so if I can't walk, I take the bus. I love to linger over good food. And my favourite activity is to wander around neighbourhoods that tourists don't usually visit.

I love museums! Art and history are always good but I really like specialized museums (we have alot of these in Kansas). Ones like the Barb Wire or Telephone museum, a place where they tell you all about one thing are fascinating.

I love to see as much local culture as I can when visting a new place. Eating in diners or dives and scoping out thrift shops and used book stores are some of my favorite things. I also love live music and street performances of any kind. Meeting people, enjoying the outdoors, admiring buildings or public art are great too.

I would say I'm a laid back traveler. I don't like to have alot going on so that my plans can be derailed if need be. I do have a tendency to wander about in a new place but that can lead to some exciting things!

Museums... if I were going to another country/town, I'd take history and nature museums.

I'm not particularly fond of houses, so interesting houses usually do not excite me as much as interesting natural objects (trees that do not grow here... rocks...).

In a new place, I'd probably love to walk around in neighborhood at my own pace, and it would be more interesting to see how is everyday life in that place rather than tourist objects. (I'm not much of a tourist, I'm afraid. I would also prefer to stay with friends to hotels, if I would be travelling.)

I don't really enjoy science museums but I do often find natural history museums interesting. Art, history and design museums are all my favourites! I also love libraries.

• What do you like to see or do when you visit another city or country?

Spend at least one day travelling around on public transport and shopping, then find a good cafe/restaurant to relax and people-watch for the afternoon. Anything else depends on the type of place I'm visiting. But I'm always up for anything (except sports)!

I try and go for the "immersion" style - trying to live like a local for a while. But I often fail (especially in places where I don't speak the language) and end up doing a lot of the usual tourist-y things.

I also love to know the history of the places I go, not just how people live there today, but how the place came to be like it is.

How would you describe your travel style? laid back.

I love museums, especially if they give insight into local history. I like touring historic locations and checking out the old parts of town. I like taking photographs of old buildings and pretty landscapes. I like nature museums, but they are so often the same. I enjoy children's museums even though I don't have kids. Art museums are nice, but I don't visit them often because my husband gets bored to tears.

When visiting new areas we always hit the historic locations or, if there's some sort of major industry in town and they give tours, we're there. We also try and find vegan restaurants at which to eat because there aren't many in our town, so it's a nice treat to be able to go into a restaurant and order anything off the menu. I love Nature and go all gaga over scenic areas.

My travel style is very relaxed. I love road trips and have no problem spending all day driving around if there are neat things to see. I always try to get in a little bit of shopping. I'm a big believer in souvenirs. I always try and get an ornament and some sort of book to remind me of my trip. I also collect postcards of the places I've been! I almost always get a hotel unless someone INSISTS I stay with them and I will, but I'll be secretly grumbling the whole time. I am pretty antisocial, really. I try to avoid big crowds and usually plan trips for midweek so we don't have to deal with weekend crowds.

What do you like to see or do when you visit another city or country? I like to walk around and take pictures of cool looking landmarks or buildings, shop, try new foods, and interact with local people. And if there's a cool local rock show going on, I try to catch those :)

How would you describe your travel style? Pretty laid back. I'm the master of getting lost, so I don't really make "for sure" plans. I just go out and look around. Whatever happens happens!

What do you like to see or do when you visit another city or country? Depending on time & budget we try to do all we can in the time we are there. We find at least one historical place, specialty shops that are no where near our area, antiques espically, find a post card or two to send back home, eat at a resturant that in only in that area, take a guided tour, see if there are any parks around, take photos to scrapbook when I get home of the whole trip.

How would you describe your travel style? relaxing but like to take in the area as much as possible. We go run around town in the AM then crash in the afternoon, have a nice dinner at least one night & enjoy the time together.

• What do you like to see or do when you visit another city or country? drink locally brewed beers, eat local food. definitely always try to go to local zoos. visit the 'midtown' and downtown or older areas. look for pottery studios (i'm a potter and love meeting other potters) definitely try to see a concert.

* I love going to neighborhoods away from the touristy things (in addition to the touristy things - I want to experience both) to write in my journal in a local cafe or just poke around.  I enjoy going to marketplaces or farmer's markets in different places.  Parks are great, too.

* I love traveling.  Usually I travel by myself.  I love walking around new cities.  I try to do a mix of touristy endeavors and finding the pulse of the city.  I like staying in hostels or staying with people.  I get bored in hotels.

Yes, I like museums that offer some interactivity with people, that are fun and that allows you to go around freely. Or museums where there are interesting expositions of fashion, design and so on. I'm a very big fan of art nouveau.

My first aim would be eating local and representative food because I love food, after that I would visit the most popular places for the local people and hit a bar or a pub and have some drinks. Also I'd love doing some of the must do before you leave stuff. Because well, there's always something you just have to do when visiting one place, like, for example here in Mexico a must do should be drinking tequila.

How would you describe your travel style?

I don't like big crowds so I rather sometimes visit places that not many people go to. I Also like blending in with people so I rather pick up the bus, in a new place, that by itself is already a great adventure! Another thing is that I like kawaii stuff and goth stuff so I'd be quite delighted if I met people of the like while travelling and get to greet and chat with them.

If there is a museum with an Egyptology section, you won't be able to keep me away. I also like ethnographic exhibitions of local crafts, costumes, etc. Renaissance and impressionist art are other favourites. Local history exhibitions are fine in small doses.

Botanical gardens and arboretums are a favourite. If I am abroad, I love looking at what is on sale in food stores and supermarkets and perhaps finding some exotic ingredients to take home. Outdoor markets are always a hit. Any area with outdoor entertainment, such as jugglers, buskers etc. Places where I can try local cooking. Provided the weather is good, outdoor cafes where I can sit over a drink and watch the world go by. I like to wander round and get the feel of a town, without necessarily going to all the main tourist attractions, although I will probably take in one or a few. Any opportunity to listen to local music is welcome.

I like to walk as much as possible. Sometimes, I will take a hop-on, hop-off tour in an open-top bus, to get some idea of the geography of the place.

I am a huge history buff, so we tend to visit alot of historical houses or castles or other architecturally interesting places filled with history & legend. I like to learn about how people live now & in the past. I love haunted history too!

How would you describe your travel style? I'm a go-go-go sort of person. I wouldn't enjoy a "sit on the beach" sort of vacation. I'd rather see as much as possible during the time I'm there. I really like staying at B&Bs over chain hotels (and I NEVER camp), good food & wine, and really experience the trip.

Do you like museums? If yes, what kind (art, science, history, other)? Yes, anything with history. Like Newport Rhode Island mansions. I love learning about people's history and how they lived back in the day.

I like to see the major sites but then I also love to go off the beaten path and be more like a local (that's when the research comes in handy).

What would I like to see?: Culture, markets, architecture, fashion... sample the local food, eat out (with good interior design) or have a lively dinner hosted at someone's house (if they enjoy entertaining!). Hello! I like museums, but I usually prefer to be doing other exploring if I am in a new place.

I like to go off the beaten track when I am travelling. The less touristy the better. I love watching people! I am a big fan of markets, especially fish and vegetable markets.

My travel style is pretty gung-ho. A little bit of planning and then jump in the deep end and see what happens. Getting lost is all part of the adventure!

• Do you like museums? If yes, what kind (art, science, history, other)? oo i'm not much of a history buff at all, but i do love science museums. i also enjoy the occasional art museum visit.

• What do you like to see or do when you visit another city or country? i always try to get an eclectic mix of non-touristy with must-see attractions. theme/water parks, miniature golfs, local festivals (ie: wine & cheese festival, medieval faire, arts/crafts festivals, dachshund races :P), farmer's markets, botanical gardens, indie type bakeries & deli's, beaches, window shopping, boat/train tours, off the beaten path scenic drives, ZOO's! i definitely tend to take a ton of pictures during a road trip & absolutely love weird & windy back roads & deep downtown cities. i love walking downtown or in the middle of a town & looking at all the places & going into random bakeries or shops & coming out with something wonderful.

• How would you describe your travel style? i'm such an avid planner (it's ridiculous), but that's why my beau throws in his spontaneity :) if it's a few-days-only trip then i try to see & do as much as possible. so the longer the stay, the more relaxed i become :) we normally travel by car to get to the destination, but use that particular cities means of transportation (cabs, bus, subway, feet, bikes) for a different feeling.

I do enjoy going to a museum, especially modern art and natural history. We don't have any here:( I have never been to another country and I am the type that wants to see everything. I really enjoy the everyday sights: things that the locals do: open markets, coffee houses, parks... Although I only visit Hawaii every summer, I do travel around the western US alot also. Mostly camping, so my travel style would be "outdoorsy". Lots of state parks, natural history, hikes and walks. I love the outdoors! I also enjoy driving all the scenic and historic routes. When I was younger I could spend all day at the history and natural science museums, which are across the street from each other. I knew the places better than the guides.

The first thing I do when I get to the hotel I'm staying at, I pull out the phone book and look for a good secondhand store. I'm also partial to street fairs, flea markets, and little out-of-the-way diners. Anywhere fun and interesting. I love old movie theaters and those little "pocket-parks", the unexpected patches of green you find in the city that are perfect for a picnic.
