Description:

The holiday season approaches, so let's make a fun junk journal for Halloween to send to a partner. Here are the guidelines; the rest is up to you.

  • the journal should have a Halloween theme. You may use scrapbook paper as an accent and/or decorative element. You can be as be creative as you'd like in the papers that you use for pages. Scrapbook papers can be used for the tags/insert pieces
  • each two-page spread should have at least one Halloween element
  • it is fine to use stickers on some pages as decorative items, but please use other items as well
  • journal should have at least 12 separate pages/leaves (or at least 24 pages counting front and back)
  • whatever type of cover you'd like. Decorate the cover, but do leave room for your partner to add personal touches.
  • bind any way you choose
  • since this is international, let keep the size between 4x6 and 6x9.
  • add at least two pockets and two tags/tuck-ins
  • let's recycle and re-purpose papers as much as possible.

If you have any Halloween themes that you really like or intensely dislike, please say so in the comments section. I would ask that you try to honor your partner's likes and dislikes, but this is sender's choice in the end.

If you have questions, please ask.

I will angel if you don't receive a swap.

Swap requirements: You'll need to have a rating of 4.90 or better and a well filled-out profile. Newbies are welcome with a completed profile. No recent or unexplained 1s or 3s. No flakers.

I am setting the swap so that the Swap-bot software will automatically refuse anyone who does not meet the 4.90 minimum requirement, unless you are new and unrated.

I'm watching this for now... it might be too much for me to send international so considering that...

I can totally do this one! I have been making my own journals for years. I would love a Dia de los Muertos theme, sugar skulls, talking/dancing skeletons, that sort of thing. I do not want overly scary gory images. No zombies or voodoo please.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE bats, but I don't like bloody/gorey Halloween stuff.

Oh. I just realized the deadline for this is October 23rd. I wonder if that was intentional? It seems to me that a Halloween journal should be available for the whole month of October. I don't think I would have a use for it past the holiday.

would love a Dia de los Muertos journal.

I'm still new at making junk journals so I was wondering what tuck-ins and tags are in relation to this project. Thanks,

joyceann888 08/24/2013 #

A tag is a small card, usually with a hole and maybe a string that you tuck into a pocket. A tuck-in is a card without the hole that you can add to a pocket.

I just want to ask a question: The journal is to be decorated, but we do not write any journal entries, correct. We can add quotes, or words but the basis is for the person receiving it to use it as a journal, correct? I just want to ask before I commit. Thank you!!! :)

@TIDBITOLOGIST54 - You are correct. You leave most of the journal blank so that you partner can do whatever they want with it.
