Description:

I heart shadowboxes...and really love mexican folk art and those adorable shrines. For this swap, you will embellish a shrine of your own in any way you would like to. Sequins, paint, fabric, buttons, ANYTHING...that can be glued! The size is up to you, but I would try to make it the size of an ipod or palm pilot. Something one could easily display on their desk...or similar space. Get an idea of what your swap partner likes perhaps you can incorporate that into your art... There is no $$ value, although be try to be thoughtful with what you are making and mailing...and put some LOVE into it!!

Hi. I just extended the date to mail out the shrines so we have more time to craft! I am so excited for this swap!!!

This is my first swap on Swapbot! I'm really looking forward to this. Thanks for extending the signup date!

Danielle- I think I know what you mean by shrine, but do you have any examples? I kinda got thrown off my the 'i-pod size'. Just want to make sure i'm understanding, before signing up.

~Thanks :)

Are we suppose to making a shadow box, Shrine?

lilmissthrifty 06/13/2006 #

You can use your own imagination, I am thinking of using an altoid case for mine, you could see some example on craftster.org... or google mini shrine. Its kinda like a shadowbox... what are others ideas??

Alloquisha 06/14/2006 #

One good way to get some ideas is to search eBay for "niche" or "nicho"...this will turn up a whole list of examples of Mexican folk art which can serve as some great inspiration :)

hello all, please except my apolgy for being sooooo late in sending my shrine....i have been so busy teaching art camps and thats my only excuse...sigh..i will work it this week and post...if it's still ok....

lilmissthrifty 07/24/2006 #

Alloquisha 07/24/2006 #

Let's start uploading some images! I'm so curious as to how other people made their shrines....

LadyYing 07/28/2006 #

Still haven't gotten anything and no word from my partner if she is late sending it out or something, bummer :(

dolphingirl 07/29/2006 #

I havn't gotten anything either and no word from my partner. :(

user1816 07/30/2006 #

There seems to be a lot of people on that list that still say "not sent," don't you think??

kparks 07/31/2006 #

I worked very hard to produce a shrine for my partner, sent it before the deadline, only to be doubly disappointed...no word of acknowledgement from the recipient...and I have not received anything. No response from the swap coordinator either. My first Swap-Bot experience has NOT been one to repeat!

lilmissthrifty 08/15/2006 #

Im sorry there seems to be so many not sents... C'mon people.... this was such a special swap... As the coordinator, I have very little control over people sending out swaps, please give out feedback accordingly, so next time other coordinators and myself can ban them. If you are late, send a quick email to your partner!~!!

Does anyone know the whereabouts of Chelle Grant? I sent her shrine and it was returned marked "Moved". Let me know if you have any information...thanks Dreamstealer
