Description:

As I was looking through Pinterest, I found this awesome idea. Forgive me if someone has already done this as a swap, however, I looked and didn't find anything.

The website

http://www.marthastewart.com/266388/envelope-books

shows how to make these books.

For this swap, you don't have to follow these instructions. You can create an envelope book however you want to as long as it contains the following: • A decorative book cover and back that are fairly sturdy. (cardboard, plastic, etc. )

• 13 Halloween decorated envelopes bound together to create the pages.

• Each envelope should be decorated and filled with a small surprise. (surprises could be anything from a small trinket, craft paper, sticker, some kind of embellishment).

1 book to 1 partner

I really can't wait to start making this myself so hopefully some of you will be interested. I am going to give us a while to make this so that we can really make this something nice for each other. You can start making the book before your partner is chosen. I've moved up the sign update so we can know who our partners are way ahead of time lol I'm excited to see who I have!

I also posted this in a group I am in. Figured the public might want to do it too. Due to postage I have made this a USA/Canada Swap

I'm a very visual person... I wish I could see one in person before I sign up for this. I know there's pictures on the website, but I need to actually see it and hold it and visually deconstruct it... I'll think about joining. I'm watching for now!

peaceandlove 07/19/2013 #

I already have the covers done for my book and some of the envelopes decorated and a few items bought to fill them with!!!!! I am a Halloween addict!!!!! Thanks for doing this swap!!!!

What and how do I meet the rating requirement to join this swap? This would be my first and was really looking forward to participating.

Wow I am realizing I need to buy more halloween-esque papers and such! What a lovely "problem" to have!

Just out of curiosity do you have to buy book binding supplies like the link said and make this according to the Martha Stewart (unlimited budget) instructions or as long as it looks nice can you do it your own way as long as it is an envie book full of surprises?

Wingy 08/ 3/2013 #

i looked em up on pintrest and etsy and google... i saw a few different ways ;)

nancylee 08/ 4/2013 #

Never mind- I wasn't reading coherently....thats what happens when Iron Man and Thor are on screen while I skim the projects

nancylee 08/ 4/2013 #

and thank you

drgngirl 08/ 7/2013 #

Made all my envies so I guess I'm taking the plunge and signing up... I kinda hope I get a US partner (no offense Canada!), since I can only go to the big post office on Mondays (hopefully). My little nearby PO doesn't do international packages anymore. :'(

Wingy 08/10/2013 #

had mine holepunched and bound at officemax for $3.29 ... very cheap... they did it for me

HandmadeByMoonlight 08/15/2013 #

Thanks for the info Wingy I was wondering about where I could get mine bounded

peaceandlove 08/17/2013 #

I hole punched and will be binding it myself----is that ok?

HandmadeByMoonlight 08/20/2013 #

of course it is, I actually decided to do the same thing

althena 08/22/2013 #

I used metal clips to hold the stack of envelopes together, then used a nail and hammer to punch holes through the stack... and then sewed them together using DMC floss. --- just as another option for binding. :)

Question: do the items in the envelopes (the treats/surprises) need to be halloween based or just cool goodies we think our partner will like?

althena 08/22/2013 #

Another cool binding option I saw on Pinterest was to hole punch them and then 'bind' them using a nut and screw combo. It looked kinda industrial and cool. I thought about doing that but went a different direction.

HandmadeByMoonlight 08/26/2013 #

Good idea

HandmadeByMoonlight 08/26/2013 #

The items can be whatever your heart desires...look at profiles if you wish. So excited about this swap!

drgngirl 10/10/2013 #
