Kawaii Matchbox Swap II

where do we get the matchboxes? i don't think i've ever seen one before. hahaha. :D

I bought the small matchboxes at the Jewel store, a grocery store.

Kawaii means cute in Japanese, I think. I know that is means cute japanese characters - like sanrio, cram cream and so on and so forth. :)

so anything cute goes in the matchbox . sorry for being a bit thick :b

Yup! Anything cute. Things your partner likes & Japanese cute items are preferred, as "kawaii" is the theme. There are some ideas for things that fit into matchboxes on the swap profile, newly added. :)

P.S. Not thick at all! Great question. <3 I'm sure other people were wondering the same thing. ;)

Hi Stray! As said, sorry to have been very direct, but there are a few users that take advantage of "normal" (good-willing) partecipants. I'm not the best swapper ever, but can't stand this kind of thing. Thank you for your idea of a second kawaii swap ^_^

What size match box? The larger or the samaller?

A 32 stick matchbox is a good size to aim for.

But it can be difficult to find a matchbox, so as long as it is a cute & tiny box about the same size, it's acceptable.

I know there are slimmer, wider matchboxes that hold the same amount; those are okay, too!

Tirabaralla, it's completely understandable! My first swap on here a few weeks ago resulted in me putting out a carefully put together package, worth more than the stated value [I hoped she would find some things she loved], but receiving nothing in return. :( It's really sad & disappointing that people would commit theivery on a fun swap site!

Some people think not many things can fit into a matchbox, but once you start packing one, you'll notice there is more & more space to fill!

The best way to start is to put 1-2 kawaii valuable items in [such as nice flake stickers, a magnet, a keychain, a cellphone charm] & then fill up the remaining space with cute little goodies [ie beads, erasers, hairclips, etc.].

Mailing it off as soon as possible, so your partner doesn't have to wait long, is always a sweet & considerate touch!

Anything else you decide to include in your master envelope, like a note or extra gift, is optional & all up to you. <3

Anouk: The swap partners will be announced on November 30, 2006, the last day to sign up/drop. Everyone who has signed up will receive an email saying they can go to this website, discover who their partner is, & begin swapping. :) It's very easy & fun! one of my packages got lost in the mail and that got me a bad rating. i never got the goodies on two swaps as well - oh the red & aqua swap! - and its really frustrating when you get a sweet pack done and never get anything back. needless to say, the one time i didn't register my package, it got lost. So i advise everyone to register theirs. A bit more expensive but worth it. Hope i get a cute matchbox this time. I've got a bazillion cute things to send!

vanDolls: Thanks for the heads up! I'm sorry your package got lost on the way. Hopefully it is just a little late getting there. Sometimes when sending a massive amount of mail I can't afford confirmation for everything, so I've made it a habit to take photos of the packages stamped at the post office. [I probably look foolish whipping out a digital camera there! haha Oh, well...]

I am having a heck of a time getting anything good into my match box!! I look at everyone else's and wonder hwo the heck they get everything in those dumb little boxes!! But hey I have signed up again for this swap!!! what can I say!! I'm addicted!!!

LOL!! I am so sorry wolfmom2ac!! If you'd like, you can print out the matchbox pattern a little bigger than its true size & work with a slightly bigger matchbox? A little space is forgivable in that case, of course! No one would expect you to fill up a bigger box. ^^

I haven't received mine, and I havent heard anything from the girl I sent mine to :/ And I sent it early, so i hope she got it.. hmm..

For Kawaii 1 i sent it in a tiny bubble wrap envelope, so i hope that will protect it? Idk, we'll see lol.

I just sent mine out yesterday & wrapped it in bubble wrap, within a bubble wrap envelope. It went Priority, so the recipient should have it within another day or so. :-)

I rushed mine off after staying up all night making a fitting slide in to a candy box all night. I'm not very good at mailing things when I rush it. Pfft, I should have taken my time. A slower, sweeter swap is better than a rushed mess.

Sheaux: I made the mistake of just sending mine off in an envelope the first time & don't know if that arrived safely, but these girls suggested using bubble wrap. I'll probably bubble wrap mine & put it in an envelope within an envelope or something akin to that for extra mailing protection! ;)

My first two swaps on swap-bot resulted in sending out $15+ worth of goods & receiving nothing in return, but these kawaii matchbox swaps have been incredibly reliable thus far!!

The next one will probably be in January to be sent by Feb. 7th & only open to people who either have a rating already or have someone with a rating to vouch for them. [Sorry, but empty swap-bot profiles are quite suspicious now. :(] Do you guys think that is fair? A good idea? If it's sent out by Feb. 7th, it should get there just in time for Valentine's Day!!! :D
