Description:

UPDATE: SINCE #4 GOT CANCELLED, I AM RENAMING THIS ONE TO #4. SORRY FOR DROPPING OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH! I AM BACK NOW SO PLEASE FORGIVE ME AND LET'S GET CROCHETING!
SINCE WE SHOULD ALL BE READY TO GO SINCE #3, WE WILL HAVE ONE WEEK SENDING DEADLINE. PLEASE PM ME IF THIS IS NOT OK.

In this swap, you will have 3 partners.
IF YOU ARE NEW TO THIS SWAP:
You will send each partner the starting row of a granny square. It's called a "granny daughter". Yarn color and pattern is sender's choice, as long as it is 100% acrylic worsted weight yarn. Here are the instructions:

Step 1: Ch 6. Join with a sl st to form a ring. (If you want less hole in the center, chain 3 or 4 instead) You can also make a "magic circle"
Step 2: Ch. 3, 2 dc, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2) 3 times, sl st to join to the 3rd chain stitch from foundation loop. Fasten off. It should look like this:

Step 3. Safety pin a paper tag to Round 1 of your square with the following:
Your Name (swap-bot name)
Your Address
City, State, Zip Country

Send 1 of these to each of your 3 partners.

IF YOU PARTICIPATED IN A PREVIOUS ROUND:

Before and after you add your row, measure the square. Add a row to the granny squares you got from your partners in the previous round. Yarn color is sender's choice, as long as it is 100% acrylic worsted weight yarn. Here are some instructions if you need them:
http://0.tqn.com/d/crochet/1/0/H/-/-/-/grannyrnd2.jpg

Once the square gets to be 6", mail it to the owner (a tag should still be safety pinned to the center) and send your partner a "new" starter square (see directions at the top of this description).

Send one of the squares to each of your 3 new partners. Leave the tag pinned to the center so the square can eventually find its way home in a later swap. If you get a same partner as previous round, try to send them one of your other squares from another partner so we each get a different square for the next round. (I hope that makes sense, please say something if it is too confusing)

Everyone crochets differently, so some squares might come home sooner than others. That is ok, our goal is 6 inch squares. If your square comes home and it is NOT close to 6 inches yet, feel free to add another row and send it along as if it is someone else's square. That is bound to happen since partners are assigned randomly by the computer.

Any questions, please send me a message. Newbies welcome, but please no flakers. If you have a rating less than 5.0 please send me a message with explanation. We want swappers that will keep the squares flowing.

NOTE: SOMETIMES LIFE CATCHES US UNAWARE AND WE HAVE WELL MEANING INTENTIONS WE HAVE TO BREAK. IF YOU HAVE TO DROP, PLEASE SEND ME AN EMAIL AND I WILL ANGEL! We want to keep the squares flowing.

This is a great idea for using up my acrylic yarn stash! I can't wait to add a row to the ones I'm getting. :)

Ok, I just logged back on after being off a week. Was not expecting the swap to change! Should still get out on time though...

MamaMay 05/27/2013 #

Ok well this sucks, just figured out that the posts are closed on Monday due to a long holiday!

koalascout 05/30/2013 #

hi ladies

it looks like the organizer has been partially suspended. i do not know about all of you but i would like to keep this going.

is there any one that would like to organize it for awhile?

MamaMay 05/31/2013 #

Considering when I asked if I could Host something like this before she got all bent out of shape... I know I don't want to. Perfectly willing to do private swaps on these though.

bluecrayons 05/31/2013 #

ive got two for this swap already but both only had 2 rows. i thought they should have 3 or 4. am i missing something

koalascout 06/ 3/2013 #

@ bluecrayons -- you may have gotten from someone who started with round 2 or 3 instead of round 1

I am finishing off the squares I received for this round and sending them home. It has been fun ladies, thank you for playing. If anyone has one of my wayward granny daughters please feel free to send her home in whatever size she has grown to. thank you!

koalascout 06/10/2013 #
