Hello! I'm substituting for @deviousdomi in hosting this round of the Short Story Journal Swap!

If you have participated in the previous rounds, it's time to move the journal along! But if you're new and thinking about joining, then all you need is a composition journal and your imagination. :)

So what you need to do is write your Swap-bot ID and swap name on the front of the journal. While on the back of the journal, write your address so your journal can be sent home when it is full.

After that, add a writing prompt or story starter for your swap partner. The prompt doesn't have to meet a criteria, unless it is set by the journal owner, or you set one for yours.

You may decorate the journal if you like, but it's also okay to just package it up and send it off once partners are assigned.

When you receive a journal from your partner, write a short story according to the prompt. Around 2-10 pages should be enough, but a little more or a little less is also alright - just don't forget to give some life to your story!

After you finish writing your story, go to the next clean page and give a new writing prompt for your next partner. That's it, and hopefully after a couple more of these swaps, you'll have a new book full of stories sent back to you!

Some requirements: - a minimum 4.9 rating
- newbies with a well-filled out profile are welcome
- no unexplained 1's or 3's in the past 6 months.

I might be able to angel, but I really hope I don't have to.

Please ask if you have any questions or suggestions. Happy swapping and enjoy writing your story! :)

Can we send an empty binder and have our partners add the pages of their story to it?

I have journals from the previous swaps and was hoping for another swap -- but I do not want to send books because international postage is a killer. So I won't join this swap. If you should find that everyone who signs up is in the US, please let me know at the last minute and I'll join.

@lorna21 sorry, this is a journal swap, so it is expected that participants will send out a journal instead of pieces of paper. It will also be fair to other swappers who will be sending out a journal. Maybe in another time we can host a short story swap using sheets of paper instead of journals. :)

@junemoon okay, I'll message you before the swap partners are assigned.

I've never done any of the journal swaps before so I am wondering about this. I love to write and read as well so this really interests me. When I set one up do I write a short story it as well so others can read it? Or do I just write a prompt? Also if we write our own is it possible to leave a page at the end for critiques if someone is interested in adding that kind of thing for my story?

@topekagal66601 when you set up a new journal, you don't have to write a short story, you just have to provide a prompt for the next person to write about. And yes, I think it would be alright if you want to leave a page so other participants can critique/comment on your story.

I received two journals from my last partner because she had dropped out. So, I really have no idea what to do with two.

i'm thinking to start a new journal, this also might be my first international journal swap.. any recommendation of how the size and how many papers are there in the journal? thanks =)

aipoopyhead 04/19/2013 #

@okellyhh the journal size is around A5, and it should have approximately 80 pages. @LadyofMisery ah! That's a problem! Maybe you could send one now, and send the other one in the next round. Then you can send the journal you receive this round in the next round, to make sure that all the journals get passed around and they don't stay in one place for too long... Does that make sense? Sorry if it sounds too confusing. You could, of course, send along the two journals you have now, but that would make a pretty heavy package.

Sorry that's all I can think of, but I hope it helps!

How will we know when the next swap comes around so we can pass the journal along?

Pinkqueen you sent me a message and i deleted it without being able to read it. I haven't been on this site in quite awhile. Please message me again. So sorry
