For this swap you will have one partner and to that partner you will send 6 unwritten postcards in an envelope. Postcards sent must fulfill 6 (of the 12) categories listed below:

  • pc with something beginning with the letter 'F'

  • pc with something green

  • pc with a girl in a dress

  • pc with Asian characters

  • pc with a creature from the rainforest

  • pc that is WAY oversized (the bigger the better!)

  • pc with an alien

  • pc with a body of water (pool, ocean, lake, etc)

  • pc with a black & white photograph

  • pc with any bridge

  • pc with a whale

  • sender's choice pc

CHALLENGE: pc with a big cat (lion, tiger, leopard, cheetah, etc)

Along with the six unwritten postcards, you must include a note letting your partner know which category each postcard represents or a little post-it on the back of each card.

You may send zazzle or etsy cards for this swap--just make certain the quality and resolution are excellent quality.

As far as touristy/non-touristy postcards, I will only say that the object of the swap is NOT to go to your local drug store, buy 6 local postcards and MAKE them fit the categories. I've gotten lots of feedback from participants on touristy vs non-touristy and realize everyone has personal likes/dislikes. My hope is that participants will choose and send thoughtfully. Remember...you only have to come up with 6 of the 12, and one of those can be sender's choice! If you opt to send a postcard from the challenge category, you will be sending 7 postcards instead of 6.

Participants must have a 4.9 rating and been rated for 10 Type 2/Type 3 swaps. If you do NOT meet these requirements and still want to join, please message me.

Join with confidence; I will angel this swap if necessary.

i have very few outlets for locally obtaining postcards, but can't help but ask since i read the post - by Asian characters do you mean the lettering/writing or cartoon characters from that area?

Why is it regional this time?

Camiliann 03/28/2013 #

dont forget that canada is now considered international and postage is $1.10

same as to all other countries. So if Canada is included, then it might as well be open to the world, at least as far as US postage costs are concerned.

Keep this in mind when mailing over-sized postcards that someone may eventually mail. According to the USPS website: First-Class Mail® Postcards Maximum size: 6 inches long by 4-1/4 inches high by .016 inch thick, postage is $0.33
First-Class Mail® Large Postcards Maximum size: 11-1/2 inches long by 6-1/8 inches high by 1/4 inch thick, postage is $0.46

Maybe the Asian character can be intrupreted either way? Then more of us might be able to find a card that fits.

Can we include clean unused vintage postcards, or even if the partners says used are ok and only if they say OK can we include used vintage ones?

SimonsMom 04/ 7/2013 #

This sounds great but a good challenge too. I will have to wait for the next one due to funding right now!

I ended up doing regional this time around because the last time I sent postcards to Turkey, it cost me $9.45! I just about died right there in the postal line. I think I'll do smaller "hunts" for fewer cards and make it international.

By Asian characters, I meant EITHER physical characters or Asian writing. Most Asian art has Asian characters written along the side--that's how I'm interpreting it for mine, but either way goes.

No used cards--cards must be blank. And I would not include vintage UNLESS your partner specifies that on his or her profile or you check with them ahead of time (after partners are assigned).

Postage from the U.S. to Canada for 1 oz is the same as postage from the U.S. to anywhere in the world. However, if your package weighs MORE than 1 oz, rates from the U.S. to Canada are appreciably less expemsive.
