Description:

I wanted to create a swap for those who are new to zine making, and those who are pro's and would love to share their talents with others. For this swap you are to create a zine about anything Winter related and send to your partner. IMPORTANT TO KNOW: It's senders choice (so do not sign up if easily offended!).

What is a zine??? A zine is a magazine/pamphlet/booklet that you make and publish yourself (usually photocopied). They can contain anything you like for example: Poetry, opinions, recipes, a comic, photographs, stories, reviews, sketches, personal experience, journal style. They can be completely written, completely art or anywhere in between. Here is a link to instructions for creating an 8 page zine template from one piece of paper. Go to the site and scroll down about half way.

SWAP GUIDELINES:

*To create your zine you may use any type of techniques. So sketch, collage, word processor, typewriter, handwritten, photos.... create it as you wish.

*Theme is Winter so zine must have something/anything to do with winter. Some examples: (different flavors of hot cocoa, the best winter activities where you live, your winter wardrobe, quotes of winter, winter Olympic winners)

*The completed size must be no larger than quarter page (about 4.5 inches x 5.5 inches). Minimum 8 pages (including front and back covers).

*Make it, copy it, put it together and mail one copy each to your 4 partners.

More experienced zinesters (people who make zines) are of course welcome to join- just remember your in a swap for beginners so expect beginner quality.

Newbies are welcome (with well filled out profiles) and established swappers must have minimum rating of 4.95, no unexplained 1's or 3's

Hi! I joined Swap-Bot because I saw this swap and I'd like to join! :) If you wouldn't mind, could you explain the rating requirement aspect of this site? I'm not sure where to start in order to qualify.

If we have any flakers, I will send out one of my zines that you don't have to make up for it.

I have always wanted to make a zine but would like to get more than just a visual understanding of how they're put together. So if anyone has an extra that they would like to share with me, I can send you back a small profile surprise as a thank you! Just send me a pm!!

When I started making zines a few months ago I went to Etsy.com and did a search of zines. There are many for sale. You can see lots of different techniques.

Got Wingy's in the mail today and it's ADORABLE!! I can completely see how these could be addictive. I'm going to put this on watch and try making some next week before the sign-up deadline. Special thanks to Wingy!! :)

i know this is a dumb question but i want to try and i'd like to know ...how big is the paper you start with? typing paper size or ?

soyprincesa2 03/ 7/2013 #

@hibiscus . yes.. just a piece of letter size photocopy paper- 8 1/2 inch x 11.
@picupurcross If Wingy sent you the same zine that she sent me I totally agree that it's super cute. Don't pressure yourself to be as good as her. We all have to start somewhere.

Ok you talked me into it... I'm joining!! :D

A winter themed magazine swap sounds like a very relaxing and creative way to connect with each other. It is perfect for newbies to share their unique vibes while embracing the charm of the season. It's like a mini-adventure every time. I’ve also had my share of experiences with different companies, and when it comes to customer service, I have to mention Heinemann. They really stand out in their field. And heinemann customer service made my experience so much smoother when I needed assistance with a recent order. They were efficient, friendly, and helped me resolve everything quickly. So if you’re ever in need, don’t hesitate to reach out to them—they truly know how to treat their customers right!
