This sounds like a great idea! My birthday is in January, too!

I wonder if the "date to send by" might be a little further away from the sign-up date, though? Maybe another 5 days, at least? I hate to feel rushed to get letters out (that's 1 letter a day) as I want them to sound leisurely and not pushed and rushed. When I joined the Letter For Me swaps they had a 5 day span and that was only for 1 letter...and I needed it to keep my letters from sounding forced and rushed.

Of course, if I signed up, I'd get the 5 letters off in 5 days, but thought I might ask if the time could be lengthened in getting them out.

You can send the same letter to all 5, or you can check the person's profile and personalize each letter a bit. As long as it's a letter you'd be happy to get if you were the recipient...

Hilde, I'm glad you've joined us! :) On Jan. 5th, Swap-bot will automatically assign you your five partners. When you log in then, there will be a new link that you click on to find out the names and addresses you should send to.

I'm going to give this kind of swap another go. I had a bad experience with LUV PENPALS1 :( I was supposed to received 5 letters and I only received two :( That was very sad. However, I love getting new pen pals so I hope this one goes better than the last one :) By the way, my birthday is also on January 16th. I'll be 35 years old. Ouch! :P

Hi... I had my birthday already, the 4th :)! Congratulations to everyone having a birthday in January!!!

Tammy, your letter arrived today, Thursday the 11th! All I can say is "Wow!" I was thoroughly impressed. Won't say much here so as not to spoil the surprise for your other recipients in case you made them similar. But I loved it!

I still haven't received three of the five letters. Anyone else in the same boat? Also, I see we can rate partners now, so I'm wondering at what point do you assume the letter's not coming and give a ranking? I guess a letter could take a week to get through the mail, couldn't it? Maybe if you sent your letter late you could let your partner know?

Lily, I am int he same boat, still only received 2, whom I have rated, I know that Karen sent a reminder out already to folk, think I am gonna wait a few more days and then rate! I have had a few none received in a few swops now, and I always send out immediately and try to send good things, I am beginning to think I may not take part in many more, sad that a few spoil it! Same for me to. Only received two letters and have been emailed one is on the way but how much longer should I wait before rating? First ever swap bot swap for me and am disapointed. If you know you are going to me stuck why not use the drop option last minute?

Gilligogs, maybe wait a little longer before rating and maybe email your partners I emailed one of mine last night as she was still listed as a no send, but she has now sent. It is annoying though and it is not as if this is a hard to put together swop, it is just a letter...if folk cannot manage that on time then they should drop out like you say...don't know what the solution is? I got a third letter yesterday from the Netherlands (thanks, Marije), so I could see why that might take awhile to arrive but I'm still waiting on two more.

Alex, yes it's "just a letter", but actually FIVE to be more exact, and Life Happens. Sometimes things unforeseeable arise during a swap that causes people to be late and they're not able to "drop out" because the swap has started. But yes, I know that it is annoying to wait on an expected letter, so I understand what your wrote. Hopefully, everyone will receive their letters, and soon. :)

I for one got mine out late and just mailed on Friday (Jan 26). I received a message from one of my partners yesterday, which I just read today, asking if I'd mailed a letter to her yet. I like the added feature of being able to message people now in the swap. I replied that I did mail it, but late, so she should get it next week. Her message also reminded me to come back here to Swap-bot and mark my letters as "Sent". Perhaps some others have forgotten to do that, too.

My letters went to "marije1711", "Jen", "Lily Lemon", "MissAmyO", and "JuliW" (SURPRISE, Juli! ) Two of you are out of my country, so it will probably be another week for yours to arrive, but it is coming! And two of you are across my country in California, so it may be a few days for yours to arrive, too. And one of you is "next door". Howdy Neighbor! ;-)

So as for my letters, hang on a little long ladies. They are coming! And if you haven't heard from your partner, you can now message them here through Swap-bot! Try it and see what's going on. :)

Well Karla, hope you didn't think I sounded like a grumpy toad, I understand things happen, as they do in my life too! But I just think like you do to, just drop your partner a message then on here or by the message service and just say! I have been in quite a few swops now and not received quite a few things, so I guess I feel a little strong about it! :-/ Have a good week!

I'd like to say that I got all five of my letters (all from out of my country), and that the last 3 really brought my spirits up, as I was hospitalized for an urgent operation. Thank you.

And be patient... I'm sure most everyone will be happy with their letters, early or late !

Is anyone else having the opposite problem: you sent your letters but can't find out if your partners got them? I'd hate to find out later on (through a "no send" rating)that they were never received. Is it possible for us all to let our partners know we received their letters? For example, if you got them, post a comment here and/or post a rating; if you didn't, send a message to the partner via the swap-bot form?

Personally I don't mind if I receive some of the letters a bit later... it's nice to have a mailday more often :)!!!

I sent out an email to my swap partners, letting them know that I sent late - and got some emails letting me know that people are sending late. I got a message tonight from a newbie who is very concerned that I've not sent anything to her, and I wanted to cover all bases, so I've emailed, swap-bot contacted, and now I'm leaving a note here - I just had some stuff come up this month that I wasn't expecting. I had trouble getting things done on time, but now they're all sent out :)

i emailed all of my people but haven't gotten many responses back. my printer ran out of ink and i only could afford to replace it just yesterday. the letter i wrote was quite long and too time consuming to hand copy 5 times. they are now int he mail with extras to make up for my tardyness. thanks for understanding. :)
